50# or 65# Braid?...

What size braid do you all use for froggin' or flippin', 50# or 65#?
Is the 65# really necessary? Has anyone ever been using 50# and snapped it off on a toad and said "boy I wish I had been using 65#"?!
I have used both, but it seems to me if you can get away with 50 why go to 65, and the frog does have better open water action on the 50 anyway.
Comments are appreciated...

i use 30# and have caught some good fish on it, never been broke off. I tried the 50# but it just seemed very userfriendly.

I don't go more than 50. I don't see the need. Couse I can't catch more than a rat on the Delta.
I also use 30 in the open water and with my spooks in the sparse tullies.

Ive broken off several fish on the hookset while using power pro 50lb. Not sure why, but it definitely made me sit down and think about the situation and what to do. Id use 65 if you think you can get away with it.

I know for froggin I will not use less than 65. This advice came straight from Bobby Barrack. I have broken off both 50 and 65, but much less with 65.

65 is definitely a must!! 50 WILL break on your hooksets. I have been throwing 65 Stren Super Braid for over the last year and it has been great..no breaks yet..knock on wood.

Are these break offs at the bait due to the knot, or is the line itself breaking? I tend to wonder, because a 10# fish buried in the weeds would be hard pressed to put 50 lbs. of pressure on a fishing line...maybe I'm wrong??

i've been using 65# for froggin and yes i have broke off fish on it. i broke about 4 off out on the delta while settin the hook on them. because they turn there heads while i set the hook because of the no strech, something like that. i switch to 25 floro when frog fishing and 20 floro flippin. floro has been workin pretty good for me i dont see the point in using braid when most the time ur fishin ur frog its out in open water. its rare that i will throw my frog in something thick. even if i do i can still horse them out and win a tourny or two

I only use 65# braid for frog fishing. I use 25# mono for flipping and pitching. I am more comfortable with the litte bit of give that mono has.

power pro 30 uni-knotted to 8lb flouro for worming, etc - 50 for delta jigs or spooks, or mated to 20 lb flouro leaders for jigs, or 65 pp for frogging/buzzbaits

I have broken 65 pound braid more times than I would like to admit. It has cost me two tournaments.
I use 50 for spooks
65 for frogs and other things.
I have started to use 80 as well.
