BPS 100mph or Cabelas Guidewear

I know I have seen posts on this subject over the last couple years but I never paid much attention since I had some great raingear at the time. I have had my present Columbia Parka, and Bibs for about 3 1/2 - 4 years. It has been a great suit but yesterday it started leaking at a couple seems. That being said it's time for something new. I have narrowed it down between the BPS 100mph and the Cabelas Guidewear. Any information and/or opinions would be much appreciated.

I have the Cabelas uninsulated guidewear. Mainly for two reasons It was highly recommended and Cabales Customer Service is by far better then BPS. Since it has a l warranty I went with the cabales, no problems yet!

I have had the Cabelas Guidewear for 3 years now (insulated) It still looks brand new, after several bouts w/ fish and smelly jelly, a couple bad fight in the spin cycle etc.....har AWESOME fitting from the bibs to the jacket....Warm and comfortable even at SHASTA in January!!!
Tons of storage and the hood adjustment is second to none. just my $.02

My guidewear has been great. I wish they made it in camo. I think they are both about the same. The only problem with the BPS is that they have their logo all over the stuff. You look like a walking billboard in the stuff. Just my opinion.
Brian.

Guide Wear has changed a little bit. My netman swears by Guide Wear. He just got a new pair and tried them out this weekend. It's still great stuff, but the zipper is now one way. It was a little bit more of a hassle (his words) when he was adding to the lake level.
I don't know how the BPS stuff is designed.
My bibs have no zipper at all, and that is horrible, trust me.

Hey Lug,
Iv'e got the BPS 100 mph rain gear and they are hands down the best in my opinion. Iv'e had north face, browning and columbia before and these are better than all those. it may empty your wallet but you get what you pay for.

I have had my guide wear for almost 10 years with absolutely no leaks.....I wash it, maybe, once a year.....the only thing going bad are the suspenders...they have sagged a bit and come loose.....with a little tape, they are fine....I am sponsored by Bass Pro but have not tried the 100mph stuff....I put my dad in the XPS Goretex, and he loves it.....but definitely get the uninsulated.....you can always layer underneath.....

Lugnut checkout the Pro Qualifier bibs and parka from bass pro. These are awesome. Well insulated and taped seams all Gore Tex too by the way. A few more color choices than the 100 mph.

Hey Lugnut!
I have owned the Cabela's Thinsulate Gortex suit for about 8 Yrs now and I really would never buy anything else. they r the best. one of the main reasons i went with Cabela's was the fact that they don't put there logo all over the suit. If bassproshops wants me to wear product with there logo's on it than they should sell it to me for a very discounted price since I would be advertising for them. Right?? Plus I just don't like Logos all over my suit.
I have been very , very happy with my Cabelsa suit and plan on buying another since the one i have now fits more like Spandex than Gortex    Good luck on you Choice.

I think you will find that typically on this forum

I think you will find that most people will recommend what ever it is that they own. Not always but most often thats what they do. I have had the uninsulated version of guides wear for about 8 years with no problems. I really do like the fact that it has the zippers that you can unzip from the bottom and if the new guides wear does not do that it means that you would have to open the parka and zip the bibs down from the top to contribute to the elimination of them being to drop the lake level too quickly. If you have other layers on as I do you may have to un zip those as well.
This situation within itself would be good cause for me to switch to another brand that has the zippers that work both ways. Other than that I love my guideswear

Lugnut, I have had both sets and by far the best of the two are Cabela's Guidwear. They both provide excellent protection from the water and wind but the main problem with the 100 MPH Bass Pro brand is the zippered hood and protection in the facial area. If it is raining hard/driving winds then you have the whole thing zipped up and velcro'd to the top. If it is a light drizzle or on and off showers or just windy and you don't want the hood wrapped around your face completly and leave the hood unzipped/velcro'd, the flaps are so long/high that they actually hinder your site and will drive you nuts flapping in the wind(against your face). I have found that the adjustments are better on the Guidwear are easier and more functional also. The guidewear is a little warmer/heavier than the 100 mph gear, so their is no reason to buy insulated in the Cabela's brand (unless you are as thin blooded as my wife), I wear my Guidwear (uninsulated) with shorts underneath in January on Oroville......

I would recomend the 100mph, It has been flawless for me so far and Im going on three years now. I am just as dry when I unsuit as I was when suiting up. Considered the guide wear but just didnt like it much my partener lent me his to try and bps was my choice, on the flip side they both have their pros/cons but both a very good product and yes I believe you get what you pay for.
