What size spinning reel do you use

I am looking to buy a couple new spinning reels and wondered what size, 1500, 2000, 2500 do you use. I mainly fish the delta, so I use 12# flourocarbon and want to use them for drop or bubba shot and shaking(dart heads). What size do you use and what brand. Is the size a "standard" between each company. I currently have shimano 2500 and just want to upgrade.(thanks uncle sam).

i use mostly shimano reels too. i try to find the 3000 size reels. i'm not sure the "exact" difference but it has something to do with a 3000 being a smaller size reel but with a deeper spool so that you can hold more line. i "think" it is a 2000 size reel but with the line capacity of a 2500 reel. something like that anyway.

I prefer Daiwa spinning reels in the 2500 size. The Daiwa spinning reels have very powerful drags and large spools which help reduce line twist.
I'm using the Capricorn series, which are actually discountinued. You can find similar reels in the Team Daiwa Tierra or Advantage series.

2000 series for dropshotting, smaller ripbaits (78). 3000 for rip (staysee, 127), shaky, light jigs. I spool up with 25-30 lb braid, use a 12-15 lb. fluoro leader with a dbl. uni knot. Keep the leader short & the knot ends clean, & you won't have too many problems.

Here comes Jigs opinion again...........Only 2 spinning reels in my boat, and they are
Mitchell 300x larger dia spools at $ 24.95 smooth and priced right !!
Bass Pro Extreme EX2000 large dia spool no line twists $ 49.95 priced right......5 bearings and smooth also.......
Again, why spend so much when you can have these. They are reliable reels.

I use Shimano Sustain 2500's because of the Drag and the minimal line twist, also balances well with a 6'6"-7' rod, but for a great reel for a great price you can't beat Okuma Metaloids. 11 bearings and SMOOTH drag. The key to a good reel is the drag, not the price, or # of bearings. The smaller the reel the more apt to get line twist, but the bigger the reel the heaver it is and more apt to wear you out by the end of the day. Try to balance the reel with the rod. Longer rod, heaver reel.
