I'm very impessed with this reel. The drag appears to be smoothe as they come and the castability is awesome. The profile/configuration of this reel is extreemly comfortable. Fishing all day with this reel will be a snap. I've heard some say that the finish is not one of it's strong points, as long as it performs is all I care about. Great reel

I have used 1 now for about 7 months or more as a D/S reel and it is Great. I use 6lb line on it and can cast a 1/8oz D/S rig a mile.

I use mine 3 times a week or so and it is starting to show wear on the side that sits in my hand. But I'm with you on the fact that the reel works so good I'll deal with the finish coming off

The only diff is I use a 51 mg for D/S

Congrats on the reel. I had three of them. All you have to do to save the finish is rub a little wax on it every couple of months and the finish will last. When I sold them they were in great shape.

I've been using six of the Scorpion 1000MGs (same reel before they were exporting them) for close to two years. While it's true you will wear the finish off them they are still as good mechanically as when I bought them. It seems like it's the clearcoat over the silver paint that goes away, I don't think I've rubbed through the paint anywhere. And yeah, that drag is smooth.

I have some input as far as the finish "wearing off". What we have found is that certain sun tan lotions and other oils (maybe from attractants?) can eat the clear coat off the reel.

I have not had any issues to date with my personal reels and I am careful to keep any oils from getting onto the surface of my reels. I realize that in some situations you do not have time to wipe your hands off before grabbing the reel and making a cast.

We stand behind our products and if you have any issues from the finish wearing off prematurely then we will glady replace the affected parts at no charge. The warranty covers the reels against manufacturer defects for one year. Finish is included except for scratches.

I agree with all the comments- I started using the Scorpion 1000 as soon as it appeared, and I have 3 50MG's also. They both cast for me better than a spinning reel, and the paint stays on far better than the gold on the ChronarchSF does for me.

sick reel, I was bummed the 100MG went away until I got the 50- If you have a problem with your reel getting scraped or not matching your lipstick, the line for girly men starts over to the right-
