He was talking about abandoned boats on the delta. Anybody else hear the story?

It finally aired huh? And here I thought when we did that back in early May, it was what might have helped to triggered them to remove about a dozen of them derelict suckers from around Sandmound. They had big cranes and semi tractors up on the Holland levees hoisting em out! Still got a bunch out in Franks. Just this morning, a half sunken one floated right through an opening in Franks, kinda eary after watching Pirates of the Carribean last night, I said , "Dood, here comes the Black Pearl!" HAR! HAR! HAR!

I've always wondered if the folks who abandon their vessels on public waterways bother with obliterating/removing their hull ID numbers or USCG registration info.

I'm assuming that even if evidence of the owner is present, us taxpayers still end up footing the bill for their removal?

Hey Cooch,
Who was the NPR person who did the interview?

You can be an absolute bum on a boat, and sink or abandon it and damn near get away with it.

I have personally tried to track down some of these wreck owners and it can be tough.

There is a program offered by Dept of Boating and Waterways to apply for grants to remove and demo these abandoned vessels.

(If you find the owner, and can prove it, they often declare bankruptcy, because they cannot afford to remove it. Don't think for moment that the owner of a wreck will be responsible if it sinks.)

What about that mess in fishermans cut. It is a darned shame people get away with trashing the delta. Some of these rigs have to be traceable.

Often the people responsible are "living off the grid" or don't have records that prove ownership. Heck, they might have bought the thing from another bum for a twelve pack of beer.

Often records don't jibe, I just did a search on two vessels and neither person matched with the address or phone when I called.

You dig and hear all kinds of things, the guy went bankrupt, left the country, got divorced, is in prison, died, etc.

Ya know a guy is in really bad shape, when he spends 2 hours with an absolute angel and can't recall her name. But can go to the county fair in Antioch last night, watch the TUBES and sing right along to "What do ya want from life?", word fer word, and answer it with "White punks on dope!"! HAR! HAR! HAR!

Cooch,
I guess Einstein was right. When he was asked to explain the theory of relativity, he said,"Putting your hand on a hot stove for five seconds seems like an hour, but sitting next to a beautiful woman for an hour seems like five seconds".
It's amazing how many beautiful, smart people go to work for MPR.
I know I've fallen in love several times with women who work there, and I've never met them. Between their voices and their brains, I'm theirs!

Yeah, I can hear it now.....

Actually Cooch it was 1978 when Journey went 'bubble gum' and released the Infinity album that brought Steve Perry into the fold. Their fans at that time were into a harder edge from them, I was one, and all of a sudden their doing these la-da-de-da-da songs and went on to make an absolute fortune.

Any time Aynsley Dunbar leaves a band its a sign that changes are coming and usually not all that good, hahaha.

Okay I git it....
