There is something to be said for a fishing buddy that knows how to take a good picture. My friends can't seem to take a fish picture without chopping my head halfway off.

Caught it on the Hud #12. Regular trout pattern. Rigged the way I showed here on the forum.

Hey Bassinator, it was caught at one of the Bay area trout ponds. Their are a handful of them, and they all hold giants. Very tough fishing though.

My best advice to somebody who wanted to stick a giant from these places, is to forget about "numbers fishing", and expect to get skunked a LOT.
Anybody that can devote some hard-core time on these places, will eventually get some big bass.

Not trying to scare people away, but just so they wouldn't go into it with any unreal expectations.....

Also, most of the trout ponds are either 4 stroke only, or no gas motors, period.

I think I know were she was caught, ifn it a bay area trout pond. only one really produces fish like that.

But what I really want to know is...........HOW the Heck do you get a toad like that into The Live-Well ?

Hey G-man, yes, as a matter of fact, I went to Clear Lk. last week tossing small dads, and caught right at 45 bass, with about 6 or 8 legit 4's, and weighed the biggest one, at 5.7. Also caught 9 cats, mostly small too.... but I did get a 12.0 and a 15.7. The two bigger cats were REALLY fun on the micro-light.

Anyway, trips like that are fun.... but mostly just because I'm on the water, instead of working Just not the crazy, mad, adrenalin rush of of sticking a BIG one though.

BTW, I fished 10 hours today, and never got a touch, but I'm totally okay with / used to that.

Every time theres a picture of a fish over 13, why do people need to find out so bad where it was caught? Why not just appreciate the size of fish chris's fish. FIND YOUR OWN LUNKER SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

Don't underestimate Clear Lake or the Delta... These places are untapped for angler's like yourself... Very few people trophy hunt on these waters and with some time, you could get a 20 out of the delta and lots of 13+'s out of either spot!

You bring up an interesting point;

First about Clear Lk (and lets get this straight, I LOVE Clear Lk. for what is.... A fun lake, where the average guy can go stick a lot of "nice" fish... bass and cats... and Crappie too)
Now I know things change, and by the number of double digits, and even a few teeners caught from Clear this Spring, it might indiciate a climb in overall size. Hmmm. If that's the case, I must really suck, because I fished Clear 3 days this year, probably caught 120 fish in those 3 trips, and I think maybe only 4 or 5 were over 5 lbs.
In 2001, I fished Clear Lk. 90 days, and caught right at 1100 fish, for very close to 5000 lbs !!! No, honestly ! A legit average weight of just under 5 lbs, for 1100 fish ! 28 of these fish were over 8 lbs (half of those were on a swimbait), but the very biggest of 1100 fish was.... drumroll please.... 9.8 lbs. Not 1 single DD bass
Again, I know things change, but my experience at Clear this year is showing me a "downswing, rather than an upswing in size.
I know I should have been there in the Spring, throwing nothing but 6" swimbaits..... But I suspect I would have caught a good number of 8's and 9's (not quite'ers) and if I was really lucky, maybe one 10.2 or something. Hmmmmm.

The Delta....... You know I fished it a little recently, right ? Very cool place. Kind of like a big, spread out Clear Lk, with tidally affected water.
In a nutshell, I have two buddies (two of the best trophy bass sticks in Nor Cal) fishing the heck out of that place right now. The way I see it is, if they can't get a DD or two out of there soon.... at least by next Spring, then I most likely wouldn't be able to either. If they do start sticking DD's "I might" be able to stick a few myself.

Of course fishing is fishing, and one never knows what he's going to catch at any given time or place. However, one thing I have learned about trophy bass fishing is that it's best to stack all the odds in your favor.
Fishing 60 to 100, 10 hour days a year on little trout fed ponds... and getting skunked 70% to 90% of the time, gives you really good odds

We are always trying to guess where a fish was caught, part of the allure to fishing. By the way, for someone who has been on the site for such a short period of time you sure seem to want to stir up a lot of s***. Sit back, relax and keep a tight line.

Yeah, I'm curious too. Not that I'd make the drive from Sac, but inquiring minds want to know.
But I know Chris and he'll keep his mouth shut, he's seen first hand the results of giving out too much info.

I kinda agree with you on Clear Lake - (although I have caught two legit 10+ fish there in the past year) Big fish are relatively easy but, true Donkey's are tough to come by on Clear Lake.

Same with the Delta - there have been 1 fish over 10 pounds, one fish right at 10 lbs 9.97 and 1 fish just under 9.68 caught from my boat in the past 5 weeks. However, I think these are just the babies.. I really truly believe there are VERY HIGH teen and maybe even 20 lbers in the Delta - I have seen fish cruising that had to be pushing the 17-18 lb class.

There is most definitely more than one little trout planted pond capable of producing fish like that in the Bay Area.

Sorry Guys, not trying to cause any trouble, but there are people out there willing to keep lunkers. This spring, 2 fish over 15 were caught and not released from bay area trout fed ponds. All it take is a hillbilly and a live trout

I don't know what it is about you and hillbillies, but you keep bringing them up. If you stay on this site long enough, I thnk you will find that 99.99% of us are not meat fisherman and would never consider keeping a fish this size. We all promote CPR, catch, photograph and release and we advocate this to everyone we meet.
