I'm heading down to fish Clearlake on Wednesday, and I'm wondering what you think will happen with fishing with the sudden dip in Temperature. It's supposed to get down to 77 degrees for outside temp on Wednesday and then stable out for the next few days after that. I'm going to be there Wed.- Sunday. Will this sudden cold front affect the Summer bite much?

Thanks,

Dude I would not even worry about the weather right now, just go have fun and fish. This lake is kicking out some good numbers of fish right now, and I'm pretty sure that the cooling trend will not even have an affect on these guys.

P.S Jigs and Swimbaits is all I'm saying..........

Post front is post front, regardless of season...ri-ight?...

Seems to me the fish are a little out-of-sorts after any sudden change in temps., be it up or down. The plus in warmer water is that the cold-blooded metabolism is still in high gear...so they shouldn't shut down for long.

Head South and fish a little deeper. It may be a little tougher, but any day on Clear Lake is a good day. If it is tough try fishing very fast or very slow. They usually will react to one or the other.

Fishing should be ok. Usually a summer cold front will cause the size of the bass to suffer - lots of smaller ones while the bigger ones are reluctant to feed. See my last report. The larger bass at Clear Lake love the heat!!
