Saw a guy this morning on 580 freeway with a 17ft -18ft "polishied" Aluminum bass boat -no brand markings -75hp 6 inch jack plate SS prop NICE looking rig. I have a feeling with the prices of boats now a days we might see a few more Aluminum boats tricked out like this one.

I think that may have been one of us. Many years ago there
were several posts about this topic by one of our members
I can not remember the name of this person but I do remember
the discussion.

Sight to see I am sure. The pictures were impressive.

Thanks,
Mike

I remember those pics--that hull was like a mirror! I think it was kenji/pil9rotten's boat. Polishing with cornmeal was the secret!

Yep - Kenji's boat used to GLOW. I saw it at the Rally this past weekend and it wasn't nearly as shiny as he used to keep it!!

Kenji's boat, about four years back, if I remember right at Lakeport was bright as you could have ever had the hull polished. Bill K :)

With the cost of Aluminum being much higher than years past, tin boats are creeping up in price much higher than fiberglass.

The costs associated with resin and fiberglass have risen at a much slower pace then what aluminum has.

ANY metal has gone WAY up in price. You can buy that 16 Stratos for LESS than a Tracker with equal features.

That's what I was getting at. That little Stratos along with the new little Triton's are cheaper than a new Aluminum.

yeah, Kenji's boat looked like a mirror going down the road.
He checked in a few months back, wonder where he's been? I think he was deployed to Iraq or something... Coast Guard.....

I polished it using three different grades of an aircraft polish (Also uesed on air sreams) called Nuvite. Then kept it up using flitz followed by a clay bar treatment. After every trip I would spray it down with non-ammoniated glass cleaner. Sometimes I would use glass wax when I wasn't going to polish out for a little while. It was a lot of work but the hull popped!
