The wife and I are planning on taking a day trip somewhere this weekend. I mentioned that I have never been to the Oakley/Brentwood area and she seems to think it would be fun, SO what are some sites of interest, shops resturants etc. in that area. Of course we will have to stop at any antique stores for her and I will have to stop at any tackle stores for me. Any suggestions will be greatly apperciated.

Go to the Hook in Oakley, probably wont get to meet Gene with the Snag Proof Open this weekend, but still a great shop.

There isn't a whole lot in the oakley/brentwood area except the delta and of course the Hook. After you stop at the hook and pick up a Lunker Punker and some Dobyns rods head back over the Antioch bridge to 160 and drive up thru aisleton, walnut grove area. Vieras Resort has a little restaraunt/bar or you can check out the Ryde hotel and some of those places. Its a nice drive just be careful of crazy drivers. Hope you enjoy the day.

Down Town Oakley and just East of The Hook, Line Sinker are quite a few oldtown Antique shops. (where hwy 4 bends before O'Hara)
Mexican food- Entering Brentwood from the south on hwy4 just past Lone Tree Way -- El Camino has some Awesome Mexican food !! (right across from Big B Lumber) -- The Pork in the Green Sause is simply unmatched !!
-- Up 300 more yards... in the old nursury ...is prolly the best and cheapest/biggest antique shop around this side of Martinez.
Downtown Brentwood is now very "uppity" with high end specialty shops from glasswares, art, wine, tobacco, bistro's ect with a very cool and cheap movie theater. -- Still a great walk around to sight see originals.
Bethel Island is worth a drive to see it from land. Drive down to Russo's and see the weighin' of the tourney this weekend of the Snag Proof and meet Gene himself if he is free. -- and all the new construction for the new communities they are building on the water.
Cheers,

Don't forget the fruit stands around Brentwood..Excellent opportunity to by local produce..In truth there isn't a whole lot to see or do, unless you are really into fishing..It definitely isn't anything like SanFrancisco or other large Bay Area cities..

all the places mentioned above, a ride out to Isleton on 160 can be interesting as well. Lot of old rustic buildings and river life type shops there, as well as the old Rio Hotel which has some of the best Prime Rib on the River, and crawdad fare too!

Don't forget the Brentwood cafe and there all you can eat fried chicken dinner on Saturdays on highway 4 just south of Brentwood.
