I'm one of those guys who, if I really like something, I do not change it. I am a die-hard Shimano Chronarch SF guy and, as you probably know, they do not make these reels anymore. I have fourteen of them (yes, I love them that much) and they are now pushing four years old. I simply cannot afford to replace all of them and they started making noise and were not working as they once did. The remedy was, of course, to send them out for servicing.
A very good friend of mine (Tony Mello) started a reel repair service a couple of years ago, so I gave him my reels to service. I recently got them back and they are as good as new (aside from the rod locker scrapes, etc.).
Tony is an authorized Quantum service and warranty center, but he services all brands and his turn-around time is very quick. If any of you need to have your reels serviced, I highly recommend Tony Mello (Cal-Delta Tackle Repair). Here is his info:
