Word from the Santee store on Tuesday was open untill July 4th this year, after that closed for 8-12 years. Our tackle Mgr, Greg Gardner is the T/D for the San Diego Bassmasters and that is right from the city lakes dept. Go while you can. Rick G.

We had some tourneys at Hodges last year. It was very good fishing. Lots of good fish caught. In a NBW there was a 12lber caught, and in a Aim Sunday Series a 10lber. Both circuits had numerous 4-6lb fish caught. The lake has really been doing good the last year or so. We have some tournaments there this year again in NBW and Aim Sunday Series, and I believe WON goes there once as well. Numerous 15+lb sacks this last year, even a 20+. Looking foward to fishing Hodges this year.

Rick is correct in that they hope to be open until July sometime. If I am not mistaken they will not allow fishing on the weekends after mid May. I suggest you contact the San Diego City Lakes and ask if they are going to be open on Thursday and Fridays to allow fishing after May.

Otay and El Cap. will now be open year round. If we can get Hodges open year round that would pickup the San V. slack for sure. Gonna battle the waterskiers for watertime for sure. As far as the S.D. guys going to DVL, still lots of non-compliant boats down there, and those folks just do not like to travel outside of the east county. Lots think Otay is a haul. They are for sure missing things at DVL as that is the biggest San Diego lake of ALL. Rick G.

According to Kelly Salmans, who has been dealing with the city on behalf of the fishing community, the lake will not close until September now. July 4th was the original date but it sounds like that has been changed.
