I was wondering what makes a Turkey Shoot any different than any other tournament. With club tourny's you have to get a permit and pay fees to whatever lake you fish at. I have fished with a bunch of friends for fun and the only cost was launch fees. There might have been a side bet or 2 involved, would that make our fishing not a Turkey Shoot? Just asking. Thanks.

If it's an informal/unofficial/unsanctioned get together, then it's a turkey shoot. Just like the real turkey shoots these events are named after.
