I have advertised in 2 different classified ads to sell 2 different things. I have received the equivilent of a form letter from what seems to be a non native speaker named Joel requesting info regarding my ads.
I am just wondering if any of the others who are doing this type of advertising are getting these same inquiries snd if it gives you some suspicions? The two items that I am offering for sale are totally unrelated products. One a rifle and other a power tool.
I have posted his response below in this post

Jim

I'll tell you the same thing I mentioned in the other related post..

I can tell by the wording that's it's obviously a Nigerian scam. He's probably gonna want to send you a (phony) check for more than you're asking and request you send the change back.
Do you have a PO box? This is a good opportunity for some fun.
Have him send the check to the PO box, he'll email you with instructions to send the money western union. Tell him you got the money but keep putting him off, tell em your on your way send the money, drag it out for several days, send him a fake claim number, drag it out for more days.
When your done messing with him, tell him you spent it on crack and cheap hookers, find a picture of such activities on the web and send it to comfirm.
Or, email him from another email address, pretending to be your spouse, clergy or other and say you got killed on your way to the western union office, or someone shot and killed you and got all the money you were gonna send, the possibilities are endless.

Also I like to give em a fictictious name like "Haywood Jablomee" or "Phil McCrackin", and tell em they can't call you because the government's been eaves dropping on you so you put your phone in a bucket of cement...etc....etc...

I got the same exact email while selling my trolling motor.
Something didn't feel right about it, so I didn't respond. I'm glad I didn't!

I looked up his IP address, and it was on one of the websites that keeps track of scammers... hmmm.

Well, I hope that this person, along with all of the others out there, get caught and pay for all the people they've ripped off.
