Just a Heads up!

I got fuel at the sugarbarge on Monday on the water off of Franks because Russos was closed. (thought I had enough gas) I just happened to have my boat serviced at Diablo Marine Monday afternoon after getting off the water. Got a call today from Diablo Marine and he tells me I have deisel mixed in with my gas!  Thank god he caught it before any damage was done. Had the whole system flushed. I'll never forget to fill up land again. Now I just gotta figure what to do with 20gallons of deisel gas mix.

That sucks, Lucky for you though, Diesel in a gas motor usually will only result in fouled plugs. Gas in a diesel motor though is another story.

I did that once in my VW Rabbit unknowingly ... barely made it back to DBay from B rentwood at 13 mph with 4 miles left to go !!

Siphoned out the tank and took it to the Oil Collection Pot at the marina -- Filled 3 jugs of Diesel .. broke open the injector pump into a modified can and rubber hose .... Flushed and went another 40k miles before I rolled that car comming back from a UOP Frat Party on the last bridge.

Who pumped your fuel Curtis ??

Can you get another sample off of their pump/tank ?? ...and did you call them already ??

At worst they should give him the price of the fuel back and dump the fuel for him. But again, diesel will not do permanent damage to a gas motor

it won't hurt to mix it in with your trucks fuel (assuming you have a gas engine!), a gallon or so per tank of gas, least you won't have to throw it out. Just thing of it as top cylinder lube.

They handed me the nozzle and I filled it. Yer right I had to get new plugs but I don't know what to do with the mixed fuel when I drain it. I'm gonna call first thing tommorow over to Sugar barge and let them know. I know I got it there cause I got 2- 25 gallon tanks and the one I filled there is the one with the RED fuel in it.

If the "fuel" was red .... That would be Govt. Tax free Diesel for farmers ...

Diesel pumps are Green Handled .....

Gas should be Black Handled as the standard...

Do you still have your reciept ??

The fuel -- Siphon out into jerry cans ~ Save a good gallon as a sample to use for action if necessary... and you can dispose of it at Walmart, Oil Can Henry's, some Marina's, or Waste Disposal's for free or a small fee.

The person that handed you the hose... Did they look like they had "some green" as well ??

-- Just a question ... as Inatention kills lives daily even. Image

Too bad you dont live closer to me, I could use it to kill some weeds out here. 8) Sounds to me like the fuel supplier pulled a F.U.B.A.R.?

OK so I've called Sugar Barge and they were very helpful. They tell me that they ad ValvTect Marine Gasoline additive to all there fuel to help with performance. This is RED in color. Guess I was a little over reacting about the diesel as was my mechanic at Diablo Marine. I'd rather be over reacting that not at all. Kudos to Diablo Marine for catching something not ordinary and Kudos to Sugar Barge for being so quick to help out and responsive.
