What brand line and pound test is everyone using for swimbaits? Is anyone using braid? I probably will not throw anything over 8". Also are you tying directly to the swimbait or to something like a swivel with clip first? What type of knot? Thanks

25lb Mono seems to work great. I find braid is good but sometimes it rips the screws outta wooden baits like slammers or A/Cs, I've also launched a few Hudds when my braid snapped.

Topwater and wakebaits=65lb Braid

Everything else=20/25lb Floro

I use 25# Triple fish Xrated line...Cast great and very smooth and also very strong...I don't care to much for braid on swim baits...that's just me, BTW if you do use a snap, I recommend a Japanese brand, Egg snaps...best snaps on the market...a tad hard to find though but worth the effort.

I use 50-65lb Sufix braid for surface swimbaits, and sometimes Missionfish. For sinking swimbaits I use anywhere from 17-25lb Sufix Elite mono depending on the bait.

For braid I either use a Palomar or a San Diego knot. For mono I only use the Palomar. If I am using braid with a leader I use th Slim Beauty knot to connect the two lines.

With baits that come with a snap, I use the snap, but other than that I very rarely use one.

I'm no swimbait freak like many of the folks here, but 25 lb P-Line CX is tough to beat.

For the big topwater swimbaits, braid is nice, just keeps you in touch with the bait so well, but it's easy to pull hooks with that braid stuff!

I have one rod with 25# flauro coated mono, and one with braid. Everything on top, missionfish, weedslingers, ripping BBZ's through grass, and really deep huddlestons. Go on braid, the hudd gets a 25# flauro leader. I use snaps on all hard baits floating or sinking, except lunker punkers. Every thing elso gos on the mono

I totally agree with Mike and Maddmaggs

65# Highseas Braid on most everything including Jigs. I've turned Rock's over with that line. I use a San Diego Knot on 99% of the baits.

Its a new line out on the market for the West Coast and I fine it smooth and the abrasion factor is nil. Break offs nil to none.

But when you can't turn over the rock you cut the line and then it raps up in the lower end around the prop and cuts the seal on your motor. That's what happend to me and cost me some bucks. Thats why I hate the stuff. But for my Swimbaits I use 25 mono for it all. They come to the boat plenty fast anyway. I have yet to have any problem with mono hooking fish. So when any of you get a cut seal at your prop from braid, it was not mine
