Mercury 115 question

I have a 1986 Champion with a Mercury 115 hp. I went to Piru today and I tried to start my engine away from all the debris at the launch ramp. As I looked at the pee hole, I noticed water was dripping from the hole instead of flowing normally. I tried to restart it,but still no flow. Do I need to replace the thermostat, impeller, or water pump? I have a manual, but I can't find the thermostat. Someone online mentioned the inline six like mine does not have a thermostat. Could someone please guide me in the right direction? I tried to use the Casitas boat repair, but they're not even allowing boat in for repair....Also anyone know of a good repair shop with reasonable return time. Any info. GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks, Ralph

Because you mentioned that there was debris in the water something was probably just plugging up the hole so the water was just dribbling out of it instead of squirting out. If that was the case, which it probably was, all you had to do was put the boat in reverse for a couple seconds so it could unplug the hole.
That happened to me in Havasu in a back water one time and I was later told that that was all i needed to do. But at the time I didnt know so I was using a paperclip to try to clear the hole.

Chances are that is what is was...unless of coarse you have noticed lately that it hasnt been spitting water correctly.

You may have sucked a small piece of wood in and is blocking the pee hole. Try to blow in the hole where the water comes out, see if it is easy to blow in or open the cowling and remove the rubber hose that goes out the lower case and check there for wood.
Good luck

use about a 2 ft piece of weedeater line, and feed it up the pee hole, don't force it. this will unclog the hole in most cases.

I agree probably just crap in your pee hole. I was there Saturday and it's thick and everywhere. Some really big debris out there also. I hadn't been there since just before the fires and didn't realize how much burnt around the lake.So did you fish? It was tough on Saturday, I managed two dinks barely 12" on dart headed spider grubs on the steep walls. Got blown around and rained on. Left around 1:30.
