Does anyone have a review of the power pole system in the delta. Sounds like a good idea with all the wind and shallow spots.
If so what model do you recommend. They seem expensive, but would help when your on a spot and your foot and batteries are getting tired.

Man... I wanted one of those pretty bad when I first saw them - that is until I found out how expensive they are. Well worth it for some, I'm sure, but not in line with the common-man's budget. Byron Velvick had one on his boat at the US Open two years ago, and it looked like a great idea.

If you have money to burn, fine, but I did some checking awhile ago and found a bracket you can mount on your transom and manually push a fiberglass pole in the bottom and do the same thing. Here's one I found; there are others: http://www.holdmypole.com/

given all the money invested in a bass boat it doesn't seem unreasonable.

I used my new Power Pole for the first time at the Stren on the Delta. A bit expensive but after $60,000.00 for a new Ranger Z520 the price does not seem out of line. I found the Power Pole very useful when fishing in any kind of wind. It was awesome when you want to flip an area or work a site fish. Once you get use to how the wind will affect the boat with the pole down you won't have to worry about blowing out the area with the trolling motor. I also used the pole when I was cranking down long banks to slow the boat down when the wind started moving me too fast. It was great when you needed to re-tie or change lures, just drop the pole and no more worries about blowing into the rocks. I would definitely recommend the 8' model, could have used a 10' many times but they only come in 6' or 8'. With the remote control clipped to your belt loop putting the pole up and down is simple and easy. I also purchased the optional mounting bracket that bolts right to the jack plate so no extra holes in the transom. Overall another great tool for fishing! If you can afford it I would highly recommend you get one.
