All,
The Chico "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" kids fishing event went off spectacularly on Saturday, with a mind-boggling 4,100 kids showing up to catch their first fish.
Easily the largest such event in the United States.
The "official" fish cleaners alone handled close to 2,000 catfish.
MANY THANKS go out to all who volunteered.
Some of you introduced yourselves, and others toiled in anonymity, no matter either way.
Special thanks of course to the Chico Bass Club, who rigged the 600 loaner rods, helped plant the fish, set up the awnings and mini-anglers tanks, sold hot dogs and of course coached at the water's edge.
BTW, a total of 3 of the lake's resident largemouth were caught and subsequently released with a "new rod" prize courtesty of the Chico club.
Amazingly, one of those bass was a 7-plus pounder!
