My pitching sticks have always been G-Loomis GL3 MBR 844's and I love the action to them. But, I am lacking in sensitivity.

What rods do you all recommend for jigs/t-rigs? Do not want to spend more than $170 per rod.

Looking forward to your input. Have heard lots of great things about the Dobyns rods.

Rod brand, series, and models would be greatly appreciated as I am pairing the rods with Chronarch MG's.

Where are you fishing?

I have a Dobyns 704 that I us e for jigs and I love it. That rod is perfect for jigs. I have a few other powell rods but I have to stick with the Dobyns for jigs.

For jigs and T-rigs I use the Champion 704C. The 704 is a very versatile rod. I have used it up in shasta for draggin football heads to flippin and pitchin into Tulles. I have even used it for throwin baits like chatter baits and hallow tubed paddle tail swimbaits. I hope this helps!

OK im just assuming you using heavier line. The lightest I would go with is the 734c. If i was you I would go with the heaviest rod you feel comfortable with. Ive heard the 765c and the 766c are great rods and are great for this technique.

The rods I use are okumas and mostly all of my rods are 7'6" to 8 foot. But thats what im comfortable with.

If I was you I would go in the store and take a look at them all. If the owner lets you bring a reels with line and feel it as well!

The two Dobyns rods I would recommend would be the 734c if you like shorter rods (7'3") and the 765c which is (7'6"). They both have awesome sensitivity and plenty of backbone to haul in big bass. I have both and I love them

I like the 704C for smaller jigs.BUT if I am pitchin and Flippin and am useing either the 765 or 766.I throw into pretty heavey garbage so I want a rod I can really swins away with.Add some 65lb power pro and I am ready to yank big fish out of any conditions.And the feel is amazing in both rods.GB...Jim

735 for pitchin..705 is awesome with jigs.

... 704 ... a great jig rod ... and very versatile ...
it will give you the "warm fuzzies" ! ....

I fish a single Powell rod and I think it's comparable to the same GL2/3 and mossyback rods.

How do the Dobyn's Rod compare to the GL2/3/mossyback rods?

Would you compare them to a GLX rod?

Most of my rods are G-Loomis, so I'm biased already.

But I'm looking for a flippin stick / heavy jig rod (1 oz.) and the G-loomis version is $455.00. So I'm looking at other manufacturers.

I like the 705c rod for 1/2oz-1oz jigs in the lakes that i fish , it is a great balanced rod and paired up with a high speed reel and 12-15lb flourocarbon line , i dont think you will find a better rod or setup . For $170, you'll probably have to go to the used market. Get a MBR844 IMX in the used market. Probably best $$ for $$ out there in terms of sensitivity and $$ ... you should probably get one for ~$150+/- I think. Now if you want to spend a bit more, ... try to borrow a Steez 7'1" Compile-X rod from someone who owns one (or more ) ... those rods will simply blow your mind away in terms of sensitivity ... BUT ... they'll cost you JUST a BIT more than $170 though!

I own an 8 foot steez flipping stick.... Its an awesome rod... But for $600 Its up to you! I don't think Its any better than a Dobyns.
