What knot would you use to connect a braided line to a fluorcarbon leader? What line strength would you use for both?
Thanks

Here's a visual:

Line sizes depend on what you want to do. I can say that with the Uni, the bigger the line the less wraps you make.
4-10# = 6-8 wraps
12-20# = 4-6 wraps
25-80# = 4 wraps

Also, super glue is not a bad idea.

Albright knot. google it. Loop is heavier line, wrap is smaller.

I'd have to agree with the Double Uni - been using it for years...........no problems........

great topic, timely for me.

I've been breaking off a lot of double uni's lately, at the flouro where it comes out of the knot. I slobber the line up as I cinch it but if its breaking there it has to be because I've burned it, but it doesn't make sense

going to try the albright, the other option I'm going to try is the Slim Beauty

I hear bad things about superglue and flouro, no personal experience though

By far the best braid to floro knot is a toni pena knot, its smaller than the uni to uni. I would have to show you how its tied, cant find it anywere on line. Albrights break dont try it. Hey mike that knot in the video is exactly the same only the braid or darker line in the clip, is not doubled when passed through the double overhand surgeons knot. Just thread it through make 4-7 wraps up then back and pass the tag through. after tight a few half hitches in the braid to make a ramp so you dont notice it through the guides.

Where are you fishing Tom? If you're fishing on the delta, I don't think you need a leader at all...

I've used them all. The all work in one way or another, it's just a matter of how well you tie it. I'm using the slim-beauty knot right when I am using a leader though. If I can remember how to tie it...

my $0.02.

I had the same problem when I was using Vanish 20 lb. I switched to Seagar and the problem stopped.

I use leader on braid for anything other than topwater.

Thanks for all the help!

I usually fish the central valley lakes, and use 6 and 8lbs. test. We are going to be fishing Clear Lake in two weeks, I feel I will need bigger line. what size would you all recommend?

Since I use fluorocarbon leaders about 7 to 10 feet long, the lightest I use is 20, the heaviest 65. All braid.

Like Greg said, I'd use Flouro leader on any braid set up rod but topwater. On the spinning rods I go 20 lb braid and 12 lb flouro leader at Clear Lake. I'd go with 8 lb leader on other lakes.

Baitcasting topwater rod I'll just go straight 65 lb braid.

The rest of my baitcasters (jig, crank, pitching) all are straight flouro of differing pound tests.
