Alright guys the official practice period is less than a week away and I'm dying to get out of this AZ heat. Who's fishing the Columbia River event this year? I'm meeting up with my practice partner in Henderson, NV then driving there on Thurs 9/11 -- no flying for me this year especially on 9/11!

If you're looking for tackle Sportsmans Warehouse is going to be the best bet in Kennewick. There are a couple of smaller places that I found from asking some of the locals but their selection was really limited (much like a Sport Chalet, etc). I believe the is a couple of sporting good stores right next to Sportsmans Warehouse as well in the same shopping complex.
For licenses I would suggest anyone of the dozen or so Wal-Marts since you're going to need a Washington and Oregon fishing license for this event. BTW looks like plans changed and we're taking off on Wed now. It's going to be a looonnnggg drive up there.

By leaving Wed we should be able to get a full day of practice on Friday.
For those co-angler's looking for a last minute entry you can fly into Portland for $229 (Alaska) on Monday/Tues as just checked prices last night and rent a car to drive 2.5 hrs to Tri-Cities, Wa. This should be a fun tournament and hopefully we get the numbers for this event.

There ya go. I was worried I was fishing with a bunch of tweakers.

I do not believe Walmart sells the Oregon license. Stop on your way. Any address for Sportsman's?

It's about 4 miles from the launch ramp and down the street from the Motel 6. Wal-mart in OR will sell you the OR fishing license.
Last year I picked up my OR license at this Wal-Mart:
Wal-mart

And the WA license at this one located near the TRAC Center:

Good info Vince. I stopped at some store near McNary for the Oregon license last year. Bought my Washington online this year.

I think I will sleep in til about 5:00 am on fri then head out for pre-fish.lol
you can also stop by High Desert Marine on your way out of Hermiston to get a Ore lisence.Rod is a great guy and stocks some good product.
Vince, thanks for the "Sportsmans" plug.We have been getting in more frieght as of late and could'nt have come at a better time.Just like last year guys I think drop-shot weights will be hard to come by once we get into tournament fishing time so if you need them when you get here bye them quick.I might work a couple late days after pre-fish so come on in and say hi.
By the way Gary Dobyns will be at Sportsmans on tues the 16th for a meet and greet kind of thing so come on down.It will be right after the meeting at Trac(6:30 or so).Weather is nice so don't forget your sun glasses.God Bless...Jim

High Desert Marine in Umatilla (Hermiston) Oregon has all the licenses you will need for the Columbia, plus they carry a large assortment of Yamamoto's, Zooms, and custom poured baits for catching smallmouth. They are the tournament HQ for a lot of local clubs (much like Anglers Marine), so they specialize in more bass gear than just the salmon and walleye gear that you'll find so prolific up there. Also, they carry boating products like oil, etc.

It's a great, well run family business. Give them a call.
Peace,
James

R U guys sure you need both licenses? In reading the Washington Regulations Book that I received with my license on my practice trip a couple of weeks ago it stated that if you are fishing from a floating vessel, not the shore, the washington license is sufficient for either state with respect to the columbia river. Maybe I read it wrong?

Hey Smitty,
There are place down below McNary that if you cross over two points on the Ore side you will be fishing Ore water.Like if you were fishing in McCormick Slough which is very big you would need a Ore license. And around that area it is easy to slide in there and not even know you are in the slough.3 day out of state license9Ore) is $43.00.beats being DQed if you accidently mess up.

Not sure about FLW but when I fished BASS at the Columbia River we had to show both of our licenses at sign ups.
