We saw these at Icast and thought they'd be very useful.
Tackle Tour seems to think so as well

Funny - after I posted that I checked out the weights.
You never know - Casitas (or DV in a few years) could pump out a limit like that.

I like the idea with the weight on the balls but I still don't like having to put a hole in the fish to attach it.
I like the cul-m-rite life tags. Maybe there would be a way to attach the ball to the life tag.

Is it just me or does that seem a little contradictory?

You guys.......
You know what I mean.
You all know that there is a difference between a hook point and those culling hooks.
I am sure most of you would prefer that the fish you catch hadn't swallowed the hook either.
Granted, there will always be some sort of damage (for lack of a better word) but I try to minimize it as much as possible. As do most of you from what I believe.
All tournament anglers use live wells, some folks even add conditioners to the water to help minimize the 'damage' to the fish.
How many times have you seen fish with big rip marks in their jaws from where someone has but a culling tag?
Hey, what ever I can do to help decrease the mortality rate of my released fish. Everyone else should do what they feel they can as well if we are going to protect this sport for our children.
Good Grief!!
(Now I feel that I've taken the bait, been hooked and reeled in.)
Like you guys don't already know this stuff.

I'm with you Robert. I use Lifetags also, for that very reason. I've seen far too many fish with big gaping tears in their throat from being tagged and man-handled.

Those ripped up fish are from putting the hole away from the fishes lip.
I use a Cul M Rite scale (that I had to sharpen), poke the hole right inside the lip. Put the tag through the same hole.

Here is how I solve that problem - Ardent balls and Glory Bags!
Used it Sat night. Worked really well.
Easy to cull and great for the fish! Kind of expensive - but, works super well! I weigh the fish in the bag as the difference is negligable... but, you could weigh the fish - pre-entering them into the bags.
