2nd generation Bac Rac now available!

I've improved the Bac Rac and it's available now from the factory. The Bac Rac holds 4 rods across the rear deck of any bass boat and installs in 3 seconds without any tools or fasteners. The Bac Rac comes in a heavy nylon backpack bag and retails for $50. 866 606 CCBF (2223)

Thanks Brian, I appreciate the kudos! I really think it will make the co-angler's life better. Now you can bring at least 4 rods and if your boater has a passenger rod ramp, a couple more in there. Let me tell you, my wife loves ours! Tackle Warehouse just sold their last one yesterday, they're starting to catch on, like the coolfoot.

Any reason why you could'nt put another rod on top in the slot for a total of eight?

none whatsoever, I like my rods/reels to be cushioned from each other but you could easily stack 8 in the Bac Rac

Will, I love the idea! Well done. I've always wanted a product like this when I fish as a non boater...both for fun fishing in my buddies boat or in a draw tournament.
I'll be in line to purchase one when they're at my local retailer. Will Coyote Bait and Tackle or Mel Cotton's carry em?

Interesting concept, but I don't know about having the back of the boat blocked with something you can barely see - especially in the heat of fighting a fish and needing to lead a fish behind the motor.
I am not used to having something back there and it blocks your normal movement in the back of the boat. It seems to me that I would be afraid of wacking my rods and breaking them either by running in to them or stepping on them.
Neat idea, but with the already limited space on the back of the boat deck, this just takes up more room.
Just my .02.

I fished a pro am a few years back and the guy I was fishing with had something similar. It's a great idea and I wish you the best.
There are some concerns. As Slippy pointed out, when you go 4 wheelin thru the tulle's, it won't work. Another concern for me would loosing some of the already small area on some of these back decks. I promise you, I would either step on my favorite rod, or take a swim trying to avoid that!
No bashing here Will, just my observations and experience. Everything has a place, and this will work great for some applications and guys with little feet

!
Good luck.

blackdog, same as always, with a 90 degree bend which locks under any bass boat lid. That's the beauty of the Bac Rac, it installs in 2 seconds without tools and absolutely doesn't harm the boat. They're built of powdercoated aluminum and weigh just over a pound in the backpack. Watch this video to see how quickly and easily they install.

As for tule-jumping, if you are using rods over 7 1/2' long, they will extend beyond the gunwales of most boats. My Triton 20X is very beamy (94") and a 6', 6 1/2', and 7' rod is safely within the boat. The Bac Rac is a product like all products, offering benefits but with certain limitations.

That's a good point Mike. I fish mostly 7-8' rods on the delta and if we were fishing the docks in Piper or Disco or crashing tules, then yes, I'd have to collapse the rods or not use the Bac Rac.
I already lay my rods just like this when I fish the back seat of others' boats. So when i saw this product, it was a total no brainer for me!
The way I see it, I can probably effectively fish 8 rods as a non boater with this product and not fight tangles and messes.
But we'll have to test this theory to find out first! LOL

I like your answer...professional and certainly acknowledging
the benefit vs risk....
Some of the more experienced LL's mentioned Tule Bending and docks...as draw backs, when discussed in our play pen.
I'm an 806 lami kinda guy..so this is still a doable option for me...
+1

Can't you just install them in the front and rear sides of the back locker though, if you're faced with those circumstances? Looks like that would work pretty well, and help to keep the rods protected from the side gunnels?
Great innovation Will - like the idea!

What about it being made longer so it can be used on the front deck that way you could open lockers without moving rods?

And this is exactly why I have had extensive conversations with Will and will be promoting his product on the East Coast. Here's to Bac-Rac's in all the boats I can find!!!!!!!!!

Come to the Central Valley Sports Show in Bakersfield and take a look at the Bac Rac. Will along with Mark Inman of Lefty's Lures will be sharing a booth with me near the Bass Tank. Will can show you how the Bac Rac works and Mark can show you his famous Puff Ball jigs. Terry Greenwaldt, The Oddball Angler will also be the booth with us.

Just got the website up:
www.bac-rac.com buy them directly from the factory or from
www.tacklewarehouse.com
The Bac Rac can be mounted under any lid, anywhere in the boat, my preference is the rear-most hatch but I used to love my Ranger 390 with the crosswise rod locker right behind the seats, some of the new Ranger's have a similar compartment but then you'd have to step over the rods to get to the rear deck.
It's totally possible to use the Bac Rac as a second layer of front deck rods by placing them in the front and back of the rod locker!
