I am most likely moving there within the next few months and have been searching the internet for fishing info. I have talked to a few people on another board, but haven't found anyone that lives there and fishes avidly. The fishing seems to be good if not great from the very few leads i have uncovered. Any info would be greatly appreciated...good and or bad. I can't wait to get my socal fishing on...after fishing in NorCal my whole life. :D

I have friends that live on that lake and they say it can be really good at times. Theres alot of dock fishing as well as a good frog bite in the summer time. The lake can establish alot of moss in all the cuts. They tell me that reaction baits are good year around as well as split shotting. Good luck.

As I recall, that's George's home away from home

You may want to send a PM to George Kramer (GKramer) and see if he wants to share some insights?

that visit this board. Here is the current bass club president.

Canyon Lake Bassmasters, Jon Evans, 951-244-5978

-----------------------------

23066-25 Canyon Lake Drive South

The Canyon lake Bassmasters meet the first Wednesday of each month in Blue Bird Hall at 7 p.m. and hold monthly tournaments on the Saturdays following these meetings. The group is affiliated with the Bass Angler’s Sportsmen’s Society (BASS) and all members are required to be members of BASS as well as residents of Canyon Lake.

The purpose of the club is to promote good sportsmanship and camaraderie among the dedicated and beginning bass anglers of Canyon Lake. The group sponsors the annual Kid’s Fishing Derby.

Of the 12 tournaments held each year, 10 take place here, one of which is a night tournament. A member guest tournament also is held each year.

Thanks for all the responses. I found Canyon Lake Bassmasters club, however their site is down (or maybe never up?). I will definitely contact them when i move.

The infinite amount of docks look promising. I was mainly wondering about fishing pressure I suppose. I don't think it could have that much pressure since it is a private lake.

I live there... that club info is outdated... the Canyon Lake Bassmsters are affiliated with TBF and FLW, They had a club tourney this last Saturday and it took 20 pounds to win. I have lived there for 11 years and really enjoy fishing the lake... there's NO real pressure due to it not being open to non-poa boats. Jon is not the pres for 2009 but I'm not sure who's in this year. I don't fish with the club there, have more fun with The Lake Elsinore Bass Club. Get in touch with me when you get there and I'll give ya a guide on the lake for a boat ride.

That's where I caught my first Large Mouth, or it caught me back in 1971. There was a tulle lined bank next to a park. I threw Rapala next to the tulle's and I swear that jumped out of the water for it! I was hooked.

We also caught some slab Crappie in a marina right under the docks, lots of great fish back then. I hope it's still as good for you. Sounds like it's still is a great place, although I heard I wouldn't recognize the place.

Good luck.

Thanks Dan for the reply. I am excited to find a place there. I haven't actually found a house yet but I think we are close. Do you live on the lake? I just sold my Farallon and will be looking for a bass boat when i move down.

I'm not on the lake... I sold my house about 2 years ago just before it all went down-hill... I lease now until the market settles. There are some great buys on the lake now. If you need real estate help, I will refer you to some friends. Look forward to meeting you on the lake.

You need to be called in by someone living in CL and or buy a place! I am a realtor...Can find you a good deal. Great place to live if you like bass fishing. I have been here 8 years now.

I've fished there a few times when I can get an invite (hint hint). But unfortunately I only shore fish. Like Dan said, not much pressure for the bass. The bass are really healthy and fat there. Could just be me, but the bass there just don't fight as hard as other bass from other lake. There are lots of forage for them to gorge themselves on making them sluggish? Like I said, could just be me.....
