Spinning Swimbaits

I have just started throwing the plastic swimbaits. I have a problem with them spinning on the retrieve. Any suggestions on how to keep them from spinning will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

3 ways 1. slow down 2. rig straight 3. add weight to balance on bait inside or outside and the hook!

I have 3 kinds (Strike King Shadilicious, Bass Magic, and Money Minnow) and they all do the same thing. I have purchased the weighted hooks, even used crankbait dots on the hooks, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Rig them strait slow down.

The wired angler has a great article on rigging basstrix swimbaits

These items may help you, they have helped me!

Gotta make sure you rig them straight.... many baits will circle or not swim right if the hook/head isn't placed just right. I've used the Money Minnows, and they run pretty true when used with a lead head and rigged straight.

Also, as Ash says, be sure not to wind too fast.

Try rigging one on a regular jig head...this will give you an idea of your retrieve speed.

But like everyone has said...it has to be rigged straight.

I use all of those and once you have the right hook and rigging the bait works.

What size baits are they?

What size hook and weights are you throwing?

Try throwing the new Roboworm E-Z Shad swimbait. When rigged on a 1/4 oz weighted EWG hook, they run perfectly straight whether burned or slow-rolled.

This from Randy at Roboworm:
We recommend a 4/0 or 5/0 weighted EWG style hook. Full rigging instructions are included in every package. The best combination of hook, line and bait has been, 5/0 1/4 oz. Superline EWG hook by Falcon fished on 15 lb test. I hope this helps out. Randy

And, more importantly, this:
The Roboworm EZ-Shad is now available for purchase. We just completed the last color today. It will be available in the following five colors,

- Blue Back Minnow
- Prizm Perch
- Hologram Shad
- Stocker Trout
- SXE Shad

Your local dealers should have them soon. If you can't wait, call me at the shop and we'll send them out to you. They will retail for $7.99 per pack (3 baits).
