so i bought some new frogs a little while ago and tossed a couple around this weekend, guess what they sink. the ones with the new body and extra lead inside anyone else notice this?

Probably the nose leaking air.

I have had some that get too much water inside them and then sink, either put some filler inside or seal the areas around the eye hole, etc. Or just squeeze the water out everyonce in awhile and fish it as it. Bill K

didnt think about that. how should i fix it if thats the case? cause one of them sank about 5 feet into the retreive. i thought it might be becuase they are so much heavier.

Use super glue around the nose, it works had the same problem with one.

Wont get as many hooked up

I get more bites above water than below but that's just me. I use frogs more in open water down this way so maybe that's something about Spro plus they walk the dog way better too.

Don't be so biased. Spro has the same problems too.

I haven't had any sinking problems with the handful of Bobby's Perfect Frogs that I bought last year.

I have, also, had spro sink, just like others have. Some just need some tuning, etc. to float the boat.. Bill K

I seal the hole where the hook exits with clear silicone (GE Clearseal) on all my frogs. They still collapse when they get bit, but I don't have to empty them nearly as often. If your frogs have loose eyes or open nostrils, try some clear silicone on them. It sticks to the rubber really well, and stays flexible. It's not truly clear, more like translucent, but it doesn't stand out on the frogs I've done.
If it feels too "solid" for you afterward, make a small slit on the highest part of the back with a razorblade, so the air can excape easily when it gets bit.

There was a thread a couple years ago about filling the frog with bits of a senko and some packaging foam. You get a little extra weight AND add some bouancy at the same time.

i talked to snag proof and sending them back for replacement.

This is what I've tried, using all the old senko's and softplastics to give the lure more guts. also squirting your attractant inside on these parts is a good idea too. Using the swimbaits glues on any holes or damage may help as well. Its my understanding that you want the lure to rest 1/2 to 3/4 submerged.

these sank new out of the package. the body of the frog was about 4 times as thick as the old ones and they weighed twice as much.

My uncle had a simular problem with a Spro. So he took a big birthday balloon, shoved it in, blew a little air not to much, tied it off and its better than new. Still has the same action and compression for the hookup.

Rich I got one like that the other day too. The funny thing is on the first cast I was twitching it then paused it and thought to myself what a piece of crap, it sinks, till a 5lb bass swallowed it. I caught about 10 fish that day on it and about 7-8 of them came as it slowly started to sink. LOL go figure. The plastic was so thick that it would barely colapse, so I had to open the hooks a little more than normal. But it never missed a fish. The thing was so heavy and thick I called it the Snag Proof Perfect Reebok.

No way, fish don't eat a slow sinking Snag Proof frog

If you fish the Snag Proof tourney, you can't modify the frog to make it sink.

You might have some gems there, cause sometimes the fish just won't go the last 2 feet or so to the surface.

GO SPRO ALL THE WAY BEST FROGS OUT THERE

I'm having the same problem with Snag Proof must have been a bad run. Spro frogs? Please.

I had the same problem with the newer perfect frogs sinking. The problem is that there was an extra weight attached to the hook on the inside of the frog. If you take the weight off the frog floats perfectly. I belive the reason for the weight is to increase casting distance, it works but it also makes the frog sit a litttle lower. Take the weight out and you should be good to go.

i took the internal weight out of one, but it still did not sit correct. sent them off today 3 total hopefully ill see the new ones soon! wish they would have not changed the body thickness.

are you guys who are filling the frogs with bits of senko and stuff like that still walking them ok?

I ask why would someone put Senko's in a frog? I see a number of you have recommended that?
