All Delta pipes and pumps off limits 150 yards

I had a guy with a gun this weekend tell me that all of the pipes and pumps have laser alarms to warn homeland security if you go near them. Also he said that it is posted on the pumps that you can't get within 150 yards of the pipes. If you do the alarm let them know and they send out a guy to check out the pipes. Has anyone else heard of this. I saw the posted signs on the dock next to the pipes near Holland tract that I have fished for years but he said it is a new rule and to warn everybody about it. Has anybody anymore info ? Thanks

I fished around several this last Sunday, and no one came looking or anything..It sounds kind of hokey to me, but in this day and time, nothing is totally impossible..

So exactly how would this work? If a duck, a cruizer, a jetski anything got within 150 yards of the pump then Homeland security would rush down.... I wish poachers would fish more pipes and pumps.
Now I dont blame you for not getting back into the guys face, since he had a gun and all, but did he say who he worked for?
Perhaps certain pipes have signage to stay clear, but to have laser motion or any type of motion over public waters just doesnt make since to me from a logistics perspective. As long as you were not ON the pipes, tampered or tresspassed the land then you would be fine, IMHO.

Pipes are an issue in the Delta, usually around Methleisland.
Tell him you spit on your bait, so its O.K. Makes about as much sence as what he is telling you.
Lazer beams? How do those work underwater? Did you see any device above water? For a lazer security system to work it would have to shoot that laser to a receiver that would alarm if broken. So every fish, bird, or stick would set it off. Most perimeter lazer systems look like a VCR mounted sideways on a post that shoots to another. They are very easy to spot, and I am sure every tweeker would have stolen them for the 2oz of copper wire. There are 2 lazers, a high and a low. It reduces false alarms because both beams need to be triggered to put it into alarm. The other systems are the PAR (standard motion sensors in houses) And raycon beams (military uses them) kinda like walking through a microwave. In any case there would be some very visable equiptment, and I am sure homeland has something better to do than try and catch a 70+mph bass boat that probably fishing the 5th pipe while there still checking the first.

Its probably the gas pipelines only. I dont think DHS cares about farmers water pipes.

Sounds like you came across an idiot with a creative mind. Homeland security is concearned with water, drinking water. Not some random irrigation intake.

It scares me that he had a gun. if i where you i would let the police know. Sounds like some nut job with a gun working up the nut to shot someone.

Thanks for all of the responses I thought the guy was pulling my leg with the laser alarm system however he did not look like a meth head or something. It sounded like he was private security in charge of protecting the pipes and farm equipment. He wore his pistol on his belt like a cop but he had no uniforn. However I did see new Posted signs on the dock but I could not read exactly what it said because the printing was to small. I did not see any kind of laser alarm equipment so he was probably exagerating but I wonder if he was right on the staying 150 yards away rules for these pipes. Anyway just a heads up for anyone who cares I think I will be staying off this spot for now it wasn't that good anyway.

But wouldn't you have to get way closer than 150 yards just to be able to read the signs?
