Unfortunately I will be unable to be near the computer that late in the morning. I would like to know why they can not be honest about the name choices. It is obvious what they mean. To say that the chronic frog is named that because it is a "chronic bass catcher"? Come on. Do they think we are also stupid?

Don Iovino told me 30 years ago, "good or bad at least their talkin about ya". This is the perfect example. Funny how we forget it is a better design or the hook angle is better or it does NOT take on water, just the names they have. Target aquired, direct hit, Ish. Rick G.

Shoot, after 14 hours fishing the Delta yesterday I got up late this morning and tuned in at the end of the show when they were talking about Yamaha, is it recored ? can I go back and listen to the whole show ? I really would like to hear what ish said about the Frog

He pretty much said he didn't want to go with plain names like black ,white, etc. Like when he picked the name chronic, he was thinking about chronic illness, since it has green, red, black, brown, etc. And he said people just need to focus on the real issues, like the canal they want to build. And how people hide behind screen names online.

Dom , I got in on the end of the show after Ish was gone, At that time seemed like a love fest for ish, did'nt catch him talking about the names, maybe someone can put up a link to a recording.

If Ish mentioned hiding behind screen names, then maybe he was reading the 4 page thread as it was going. If he was it sounds like he was hiding and lurking and reading what was said without any response. So who was doing the hiding Mr. Monroe?

As for the names, he must really think the fishing community is stupid. He gave a very weak explanation for the obvious drug culture slang being used. He must not have responded on the internet while he was trying to come up for weak excuses for the names.

Who gives a crap on what the name of a color description of a bait is. You never heard anything with Reaction Innovations "420" or "sprayed grass" colors or the likes of others. You "perfect" guys need to just settle the hell down and worry about what color will work best for you. BTW it looks like only a couple out of the many colors fall in the so-called "drug" description catagory as it is. I hear the bait is better than what it was before, isn't that what REALLY matters. Once again a bunch of gotta be perfect whiners.......

I will not introduce my grandson to baits that glorifie drugs and will not put him into a position of looking up to Ish.
Its Hard enought to find good role models for young people with out having to deal with the drug culture

I can see it being a problem with those types of names for the youth of the sport, but other than that, I don't see the big problem with Ish naming his frogs that. Like most have said, Reaction Innovations has some pretty dirty named colors. I think the names are great, but some don't like that stuff. Heck, it can't be worse than the music most kids listen to these days. That rap crap, haha.

Oh well, its fine with me, I will be out there catching toads on my Sprayed Grass Beavers and my Purple Kush Phat Frogs, while you guys use your blain named baits.

You won't feel that way when you have kids and want to get them involved in fishing. It's no different than having their Little League bats named after marijuana plants. If you want your kids to admire marijuana, then by all means support Snagproof. This decision by them is just idiotic, in my mind.

Frog I'll put my PB on bland named baits up against yours anytime.

And no I dont buy RI anymore either, so I guess Snagproof is off my list of baits to buy, Not just Ishs but ALL OF THEM

Just so you know, I happen to have 2 teenage boys that know a bit about drugs.......because I openly talk with them about them and of course their friends at school. I as a parent have done a great job at keeping my kids AWAY from drugs. They both fish and hunt too, a great way to spend quality time with them. Yeah, we laugh at some of the names of baits as we thread them on, but you know what?......all that matters is what's catching fish! BEING CLOSE AND REAL along with FISHING, has so-far kept my boys away from them! They are their own men and will eventually do what they want, but as long as I can stay close it's all good for us!

I think it is in real bad taste. Out of all the words in the English language this is all they could come up with. It just seems these pros are trying to out do each other with naming their lures. Like Skeet Reeses new LV500 named "Crack". It just seems really silly to me.

1- Chronic -- Daily user of Weed, MaryJane ect...

2- Iced Out -- Hawian Meth.

3- Da Man - Himself

4- Buck Nasty .... He said he could not say the definition as there were ladies presant..

5- Purple Kush -- A higher grade of MJ.


I asked him if they would be good names for atrifical baits to package/market. His reply was basicly "WTF" and started laufghing as he was shaking his head no.

Classic responce right there ~with all the proof in the pudding from someone that has no opinion in this matter at all of Snag Proof's marketing tactic's.

I don't see complaints about Reaction Innovations.

Sweet Beaver, Double Wide Beaver ? Take it as you will, but many guys get a good kick out of that.

Colors like COON NASTY? Dirty Sanchez? Does anyone need explaining on what these mean? 420 Mhmmm what's that?! Sprayed Grass? Come on guys! I sure hope the ones that are complaining aren't using these baits then either.


Whether or not Ish meant it like that or not, aren't there more important issue to get upset about? Most guys are getting a kick out of the names and laughing about it. I bet 90% of the guys complaining won't be out there protesting the Canal. Go Figure.

I started using waterbug beaver years ago[recomended by Cooch], tried the big texan and a red and black, and a blue and black beaver. I quit buying several years ago and will no longer use them[ But will use up my stock] I dont know what calif.420 means, I bought some of the tubes in this color, So I will use up what I have but wont buy any RI. or Snagproof in the future, I will contuine to fish 4"and 6" green wenies just to show I am not a prude

There are just too many other lures that can work as well, to buy something I dont approve of.

Thats about the same thing Ish Said this morning, there are More things out there to worry about then a few names on some baits

Good parenting is whats going to help kids stay off drugs.
I don't think the way to protect kids from drugs/sex is to shelter them from it.

Just because someone knows what chronic is dosen't mean they are going to smoke it.

No kid is going to make it through high school with out being able to fill out the same definitions that Delta Dan just learned the other night(only they would have them right)

Steal the name. Pretty soon kids will think Purple Kush is a frog. He should have named one the gay frog. Maybe we could steal that word back to its original meaning too.

Ok if the names of frog colors are gonna be enough to make ur kids use drugs, i think the problem lies in their upbringing. Raise ur kids to have some sense and a strong mind so that they wont be influenced by something so stupid. Dont hear of people complaining of the cherry scented markers and finger paint at ur kids schools that they're sniffing all day.

I was going to stay out of this as well, but ...

I to would like to see some of this passion directed towards what these knuckle heads in Sacramento are trying to do to the Delta. This is the real deal folks, and if we ever needed to band together it's now!

As far as the bait names I think it should of been thought out a little more. Those of you that have not fought an addiction will never understand this. What some of these guys are saying is very true, some children are easily swayed. I think there are just as many clever and cute names out there that don't reference dope.

I also agree with the question that if someone states his beliefs on here how does that make him a whiner or trying to be perfect? Remember the beauty of freedom of speech and that many of thousands of individuals have died to protect that right? Everyone's opinion is valued to a degree, but when you start attacking someone because of it, it ain't right.

That being said the baits are petty cool and should do well. I won't be buying any in the near future, not because of the names, but I have more Snag Proof frogs than my local Walmart does and I've always doctored them up to work better than straight out of the box. I do have some new colors schemes to paint up, thanks Ish

I know when Casitas was in the pre cable stages and the lake was closed I went to every water board meeting. Unfortunately my work schedule and being 8 hrs from the Delta will keep me from attending any meetings and protests.

I have not been to the Delta before but in researching that water it seems awesome. It looks like the closest thing to the Rio Negro in the Amazon that California has and that was the best trip I ever had. I sure hope it can be preserved but my lack of trust in politicians really concerns me.
