One ounce lead weights have been around a long time without slip inserts without issue. What is the distinction between the slip N jig and a standard lead bullet weight?

Will there be a tungsten version in the future?

bait barn sales the same basic rig but not the heavy weights. the slip jig they sale is more for flippin than for punching

Great and I thought I had an original idea. Been pouring and tying those for a week. Found an old 1 ounce bullet weight mold. It was missing some parts so I had to plug the pour area and fill it backwards. Anyways doing it wrong they come out 1.5 ounce and have a tying ring.

Any spinnerbait mold can be used too make a slip n jig you can make it out of the ultra minnow spinner or the h style molds will both work there by do-it mold company you get the connection sleeves and just add lead powder paint and skirts and your in business and you can even add eyes to the baits.

I am using an old hilts 1 ounce mold. It is suposed to have an insert that fills the back of the mold with the pull wire for the line hole. Well if you plug the fill hole up and pour it backwards with regular pull pin they come out extended with a tie bar and are 1.5 to 2 ounce depending on if I fill it all the way up. But I will try your method for the lighter ones. Thanks for the tip.

Just use a wire form in .040 diameter and run it so it IS exposed out both ends of the spinnerbait body your going to use then after you pour the lead just pull the wire why the mold is still close it hold the lure body inplace when pulling the wire. I have custom made connection sleeves i use in the baits i make so when pulling the wire it makes it much easier to pull and because i hand tie all my skirts and by using the sleeve it makes the body of the bait very solid but if your just making them for yourself you dont need the sleeve if your banding the skirts. Also if you plan on hand tying your skirts after you powder paint them run the wire back through the body of the bait so the wire is exposed past the collar end you can use a close eye wire form place the closed eye in the vise and it will hold the lure in place why you tie your favorite color skirt on.

Jig is another good option as well. Dale makes some nice baits.

I just use a copper pull pin. Powder coat with a paper clip inside to hold it in the oven. One of my vices has rounded jaws and holds it tight when I hand tie the silicone. No inserts or any thing complicated. They look and work just as good as anything else. And it may not be the approved method but if I want to tie up fast I pinch the head of the bullet weight instead of pegs or bobber stops. Hasn't cut the line yet, but like I said it probably ain't the smartest thing to do. The sleeves won't work for mine. There close to 2 inches long. Skirt is tied about half way. I got a pic but can't do it from my I phone just email.

I was tieing flys for trout and streamers for ocean salmon since I was 8 years old. Never liked those pop on collar things, the material slips and you can't get it to flare out right unless you hand tie. Anyways the mold I am using is a hilts LMBU. You don't use there plug pull pin and they come out bigger with a tie bar.

I emailed a few pics to people they might be able to figure out how to post them.
