I have half a spool left on my curado and I have just enough left over to fill the spool if I can find the right knot. I can't afford to buy a new spool right now and if there is a good knot that works why not save some $$$ and use up the rest instead of throwing it away or just letting it sit.

How many yards of new line? In normal use will you make it to the knot?

Ahh... ok. Make sure to use backing when it's time to re-spool! I've pulled line off and put it back on after putting on the backing, but I wouldn't suggest doing that unless you have a line changing station.
Wasted a half a spool of high-end flouro when I did that last month.

I shouldn't ever make it to the knot I will have a good 50 to 60 yards after the knot.

If your not going to make it to the knot I would use something compact and would not be overly concerned about strength. A uni-uni would be more then adequate. Some people might be worried about slippage that could strain the knot. I don't think that will be an issue as long as the backing is covered by a layer or two.

Back to back uni, and a drop of crazy glue. Roll the knot in your fingers to get it smooth, and leave a 1/4" tag on the end of each knot.

Hey man...dont know where exactly you live. But my local tackle shop has Power Pro braided line (all sizes) for half off. $8 man! Cant beat the price. If you can fit in a drive to Yuba City/Marysville the place is called Star Bait & Tackle (530) 742-5431. I just picked up 2 things of 20lb myself.

WHB,
Please send me your address via E-mail,
neil@tracyrealestatemarket.com I am getting things together in order to launch a new Company (line, lures, tungsten etc.) and have quite a few spools of braid in 20#, 50# and 65#. All are green as I have not begun ordering the Lake/River specific colors yet.
Please specify the #test you want and I'll shoot it on over to ya.

bigguns,
The reason you may not want to do this is the fact that if you get to the knot during a cast and it starts going thru your guides, you will have a braid bird nest that even an Eagle would be proud of
If you got a lot of extra line and dont expect to ever get near the knot, then OK, but i would be very carefull not to let that knot go zipping thru your guides.
I would say that 1/2 spools of braid are more useful to save for flipping. You can tie the 1/2 spool onto a reel with 20# mono on it as backing and then tie into that and have a 1/2 spool of braid for flipping. you won't be wasting the braid and you wont have any chance of getting near that knot, so its all good!
