why is recessed troll mtr pedal more comfortable???

I dont have one and was wondering if it is right for me. The recessed pedal seems more difficult to work as you have to extend your foot below the deck line which causes you to reach down with the toes of your foot or heel.

With the traditional mount, fully turning rt or left gets you from 4" from deck line to about 1" above deck line.

how does the recessed pedal help w/ control and comfort?

thanks
Jack

I fish standing all day, so its better that im not standing off centered all day.. both feet are flush with the ground.

I found that the most comfortable height for my TM pedal is a little above the deck in the flat position. I blocked my pedal up in my Big Foot box on my Tracker, but the factory recess in my Ranger puts the pedal at that height.
It's just enough to make me feel like I'm pushing against something, and not going to do a header off the bow.
I switch feet depending on which direction I'm fishing, and I no longer have back spasms on the drive home.
It may not bother some people, but, in my case, not having to raise my leg all day makes a huge difference.

Trust me. Fish out of a boat with a recessed pedal a while and try to go back to one on the deck. You'll find out that you have only gotten used to having the pedal on the deck, and that having the recessed pedal is the way it should be. I fished with my dad not to long ago and his pedal is still up on the deck. Never felt so awkward in my life and that's how we all learned, pedal on the deck style. If you sit and fish i could see it not making a difference, but when standing it's less fatigue on the body to be properly aligned and level.

I'm sitting here at 8 am deciding whether to go fishing...my low back hurts and I haven't installed my recessed foot pedal yet....So do I want to stand for 6 hrs in a capt morgan position or not?

This week it will be installed....Friday I swear!

I cannot answer WHY it is more comfortable, but I will say that of all the improvements on my boat, recessing the pedal was by far the most noticeable and appreciated. I can fish for 3 days with no lower back pain. Get it installed, you will not be dissappointed.

If you have back problems at the end of a long day on the water, you probably don't have a recessed pedal. One of the best ways to ease back pain.

Woot! just got mine installed..headed to the delta tomorrow.

Btw- upgrade the screws it comes with on the attachment of the foot pedal to the recessed box...the screws striped on me...get hex head screws that are self drilling.

Also I bought a mototguide/minnkota product and cut wrong...its a pain to fix...so cut correctly the first time.

Installed my comfort troll a few years back. The lower back, feet and calfs never felt better. I run a Minnkota and with my comfort troll, so the pedal sits about an inch above the deck. Good luck.
