What is your favorite Dart Head bait? What size weight do you use? What type of Bass do you target with it?
Thanks to everyone that responds, I catch fish with them but do not feel it is a good technique for me.

90% of the time it's a 1/8 once with 4/0 hook
10% of the time it's a 1/4 once with 4/0 hook
4" and 6" Keepers (Straight tail) - 1001B or P, 082G or R, theres a couple more but can't remember the numbers.
4 1/2" and 6" Robos (Straight tail) - Aarons Magic no flake or Warmouth
I hope this helps, I am no pro but I throw darter heads ALOT

Dobyn's has a good darter head article archived on ask dobyns. I'm still learning but a fair amount seem to be caught while dragging on the bottom, or hopping, less while swimming, and on the fall...bass love stuff that slowly falls.

Most anglers remember the late Dick Trask when thinking about spit shot rigs, however Dick often fished darts using the same curl tail worms.
A straight tail or paddle tail may be more effective using shaky heads, darts seem to work better for me when swimming in open water using a curl tail worm. I like light weight darts; 1/8 oz with 41/2 to 5 1/2" Roboworm curl tails in whatever color works, usually a shad pattern.

Bassectomy Lure Company's "spot remover" reaper, Merritt Gilbert has duplicated in my opinion the most perfect color match of a common sculpin thats found in the majority of our lakes in California, from northern to central to southern cal, this bait in it's most standard form, (spot remover blackflake or no-flake) after it's been in the water for a few minutes washing off the salt and garlic it's rolled in, is the perfect size and match (3 1/2 inch) for the sculpin. Fished in 1/8 ,3/16, or 1/4 oz depending on depth and wind , is my go-to dart head bait for smallmouths, largemouth, and florida strain bass as well.
Thanks for a great bait Merritt,
Jeff

I like to rig a 7" Triple Trout on a dart head, just hook it thru the nose.
Seriously, a great bait is a LakeFork swimbait (the small one), good action and good baitfish profile.

Boy you got me there Jim, and your 100% correct, I think I own two spinning rods, and trust me, there is ALWAYS a spot remover reaper on at least one of them at all times, thats if I can keep all you guys from stealing them out of my boat ! I truly beleive more money in the past has been won on that bait at Pedro, Mclure , Pine Flat and Shasta than most people know.
