I just got word about this today guys/gals for anyone interested.

During the BPS Sping Fishing Classic the Rancho Cucamunga, CA store is going to be having the Lowrance HDS 5 BASE US 83/200 KHZ on sale for $269.99!

Our normal retail is $699.99. We'll will only have 50 units, NO RAIN CHECKS!, and completely expect to sell out in the first day.

Starts Feb 27th.

Mark your calendars and get there early if you want one.

You'll like this...I just found out that NorCal and Vegas BPS stores will have 50 each too.

Here's more details I just go:

-Limit 1 per customer.
-No Presale.
-No over the phone.
-No Hold.
-First come first serve.
-50 units each store and then that it.

The sale is through those days but I'd guess 50 units per store will go in a few days at that price (??). Just my guess.

Before buying, contact someone who knows LOWRANCE...some units are designed for Salt Water use and bass boat application may not be compatible/cost effective. [I recently almost made that mistake}
Suggestion --Jordan @ Anglers or your own nearby source for installation.
My understanding is the 50 /200 is not what you want.

Wish they would put the 8 or 10 on sale like this..

Need to read some of the reviews of this unit. Not a very "popular" unit for those that posted. Still the price tag is very good. But then again are you buying a headache. I purchased one of them internal GPS units a few years ago. What a piece of crap and of course the warranty expired and they discontinued that model. But the price is good....

Are you sure it isn't for the HDS-5x ?? That is the model that is just a fishfinder and no GPS... seems like it would more likely be the one being given at that price.

It is not the X, It is the Sonar/GPS unit with transducer..

No matter what it is.. It's a good buy and at a very least a easy "flip"

Buy it there, "flip" it on ebay or some other random site..

The reason they are putting them on sale is Lowrance is coming out with a new HDS 5 with Structure Scan built in. You might want to hold off the combo unit might be priced better.

Here is the real story boys and girls. BPS had a deal to buy a bunch of Eagle 640 closeout units from Lowrance. Lowrance could not deliver all of them, so in the contract that BPS and Lowrance have, if they cannot deliver, Lowrance must give them "Like Product" that they can sell for the same price. 250 units total and 150 went to the westcoast stores and 100 went to Canada, BPS locations. Yes, these are the same units that retail for 599.00 but do not have the Insight Mapping. E-Bay away folks, just if you want a good installation done bring it here. This is a one time deal and as pissed as Lowrance is at BPS my guess is it wont happen again. Rick G.

Hey Rick is that a typo $599. The basic unit w/o GPS is listed at $549 and the unit with enhanced base maps is $699.

I've had 12-15 people who said they're all over this (in SoCal) the morning of the 27th so get there early guys.

$269 for an HSD5 with Basemap is a sweet deal anyway you cut it. Can't go wrong.

Keith: This is the $699 unit with 83/200 transducer.

BPS has their install bay right there down the street too with good pricing and great installers. (Nothing against the Anglers boys, I personally am friends with them too.)

Really sucks brother. Guess you heard I dislocated it at the Delta during the pro am and wasn't able to finish.

I was so scared of Ricky S. (after day 1) that I slipped on the way home just thinking about him...lol...kidding. What an impressive event for some of those guys...

Had surgery last week and hobbling around now and sore as hell.

Phua is working me hard still at work (that bastard!) w/o any pitty... (kidding around)

W/O "debating" this, the units BPS is selling are not "going away" anytime soon nor are they being replaced.

I just called the factory & confirmed this.

Rick's story regarding Eagle units is the truth abt why they are so cheap...nothing more nothing less. Its a contract fullfillment thing. Bacisally a one time deal w/ a few stores.

Hope that clarifies things.

Who on earth would spend an extra 6 hundred dollars on each unit, when they could spend 6 hundred dollars once and have up to 4 units with stucture scan?

The unit Rod has posted, I say is a package deal with structure scan included with the purchase. If I am wrong, boy their is some fools out there.....

Rick G is also correct. But Lowrance will be introducing the 5 with structure scan and a few other units that will just be sonars at very low prices. They have not put a price on 5 with structure scan yet.

Rick please let us/me know before thursday the 25th?? Cause I'm thinking about getting 1 of these units ( cause I know Aaron wents 1) and putting it on my boat just for 2 months till I can get the 8 and 10 (Jessica got my play money for the units with this move she is in right now) and then I'll just sell it to him for the same price.

But if this is going to be a price for everyone I'll pass and just wait sence Aaron will be able to get 1 when ever he gets ready

Yes rick, I also want to know if you could sell this unit at around that price. I'm hoping to get one from them as well, but would prefer my $ go to a local shop if possible.

Having said that, sometimes you have to do what you have to do in YOUR best interest. Especially if the "local shop" cannot match what "other" stores are doing..ie...BPS 6-Pay..Gotta Love it and you can't beat it..

PS..If Anglers or any other "local shop" offered that type payment plan then I would of bought mine from them as well.. but in my personal situation it's alot easier paying on something for 6 months and getting the product up front (no interest, no bs, no red tape) then to plop down X amount of dollars for eveything at one time..

That price that you are quoting is just a package deal with the HDS-5 and LSS-1 being sold together. Cabelas has been selling package deals since the introduction of the LCX units. It doesn't mean the structure scan is built in. I wouldn't be suprised to see them do it though. Make a sonar/structure only unit with no GPS and sell it at a price more competative than the HB units. I just have not heard anything about it yet.

I'm not judging Trust me, if there is a huge price difference, I too will attempt to buy it at BPS. Since I pay cash, and the price is close, I throw it to the local shop.

Called BPS in Manteca yesterday and the gentlemen I talked to said they were getting the units for the classic sale but the units they got had a different skew # than the HDS5. He said the units they were receiving did not have an SD card slot. I did not know Lowrance made a HDS that had no card slot. Thats just the info he gave me, if anyone finds out any different, please post and let us know. Thanks

couldn't get any info other than "yes it will be on sale during the show, on one of the day's".

-I just read about this sale on bassboatcentral.com and was given the link to this site to read up on it.

I know no one knows me, but I would be willing to pay someone if they could buy one for me and ship it to me. I would pay $100 dollars for than the cost of the unit on sale.
