which "value" rods to you think give the most for the price tag?
abu- vendetta
Falcon- Bucoo
st. croix-Mojo
need a couple back up rods for when guests decide to tag along..not letting my buddies touch my cumaras.

Falcon!!
I compared and lb for lb they're the best bang for the buck!! Lighter and better in my opinion than all the others in that price range.

Why not just buy some shimano clarus rods ??

Here's my point-

Shimano has a over the counter no questions asked replacement. Ok it's not a cumara but if you're not fishing it then who cares right ?

Let's say you buy a few clarus rods and your buddy breaks one in your tailgate or something. Well then just replace it. In the long run you're better off money wise.
I have taught 2 new people to fish in the last year and have them use a 6'6' clarus spinning rod with 8# floro on a 1000 series sahara or sedona. They both loved it and did farely well on it just throwing worms small jigs and flukes, i spent like 50$ on that rod and already got my money's worth.
BTW all my rods are St Croix avid series or carrot stix and although i would say the MOJO rod is the best under 100$ rod my understanding of the warranty is that it's not over the counter no questions asked. Therefore i would suggest the shimano clarus rod just in case you get a buddy that thinks the rod is a fencing sword.

good luck let us know what you pick !!

I haven't used all of those, but I have used Falcons. ANd I still have Falcon rods and use them, and I have a ton of Dobyn's and St. croix Avid. I prefer Dobyn's , but I have a very usable Falcon 6'6" medium spinng rod, and I would buy another if it broke.

Dobyn now makes the savy's for 150's and St. Croix Avids are around there too.

I bought a Mojo spinning rod a few months back for the same purpose and have been really impressed.

went with the vendettas(3 of em 2 Casting and 1 Spinning), got to handle all 3, the falcons seemed a lil flimsy there M felt more like a ML while the vendettas were the opposite felt a lil heavier than what they were rated. The Mojo i didnt like too much (the spinning model screwed from the bottom) just a personal prefrence, not knocking the rods one bit they felt great, but the $ saved was well spent on misc tackle.

I've not fished with the Falcon, but I own a Abu and the Mojo rod. Both of those are tip heavy and feels like clubs. For a relatively inexpensive rod, that's like and pretty good. I would recommend the BPS Carbonlite rod (and reel if you can find one in stock) for worming or ripping. Or for cranking, the BPS cranking stick is pretty decent for <$100 ($80 I think).
