Is anyone running these on the trolling motor. Just curious what you suggest or any feedback. Thanks all.

Good Batteries, to heavy and to much money, Think u could find a comprable battery for less money. I can not remember what Anglers riged my boat with the first time but they lasted for four years. Boat trojans and they only lasted for two.

Great minds think alike!
It's been a while since I've bought any.
Do the new ones need batteries?

One of my partners has used trojans for some time. I have used Napa stowaways in the past. His trojans have not given him any better service if as good than the stowaways have for me. Recently we both changed over to Optima's, also available at Napa. For a battery to perform well it will be heavier, just a drawback of having very high reserve minutes ratings. Think of a battery as a fuel tank, bigger is better. Also the larger batteries will last longer and not fall off as fast because you will not cycle them as deep as you would a smaller battery. The deeper and the more you cycle a battery the shorter its life will be,

If bigger is better we would all be using 8D marine batteries.

I purchased a set of Trojans for my boat in 2004. They are heavy and if you keep the water topped of regularly they will last. I just replaced mine after 5 years. I did forget to top off the water a couple of times which I think shortened the life span but I got 5 years out of them anyways. I decided to go with the Optimas due to the lighter weight and no maintenance.

As a curiosity, how often should one check/top off batteries?

When I had Trojans -- I re-topped them off with distilled water after every 3x charging. (about 1 cup of water each battery)

When I went to a 36v TM - I bought sealed/maintinance free batterys from The Hook. (A/C's)

Never have to deal with adding water and testing the gravities with a battery hydromiter - for having to add an addative as well ever again.

Mine were for a #74 Analog MK TM ..... And There were dead dead with 5-6 hours of use - and I had to plan my day around them.

Not any more ! :D

mine lasted five years and would still hold a charge when I replaced them. Just got weak after a windy day. I have a 36 volt system, just keep water in them.scs 225

They still have the same hard wood system as they used too.
