Boat Insurance question

Ok, I know nobody can give me an exact amount, but...I have two questions.
1. Roughly how much would insuring a 1987 Champion Bass boat cost a year would you think?
2. Is it worth insuring a boat of that age?

1. The insurance amount is going to be based on the value you put on the boat. If there is a claim the insurance company is going to pay the less of either the loss or the insured amount. To clarify more, if you insure for $5,000 on the boat and the loss is $4,000, they will pay the $4K. However if the loss was $6K, they only pay the $5K.
2. It is always important to get insurance because of the liability exposure. If you don't want to insure for a specific value then that is your opinion and option, but there is always some liability. For example if you hit another boat, or someone falls from your boat. Liability covers the damage your boat does. If a throttle gets stuck or something and you hit another boat, dock, or marina, then there is coverage based on liability.
Also, look at trying to package with your home and/or auto insurance. You can receive discounts for multiple policies. This is a great way to lower premiums all around.
