Ok, so I’m sure if you’ve fished the tract lately you’ve seen, or better yet tasted the little annoying gnats that are swarming. What the HECK! These things are unbearable!

Yea, they're bad. Reminded me of trying to play golf in upstate NY during july. Little buggers hoovered around your face while your lining up a putt, then about a dozen at a time would dive bomb looking for any open orifice

THAT IS THE SIGN OF LIFE !!! :D :D :D

I have been personally awaiting for their return for the last thee years ! It started off with their demise in both the pellet drops in Franks, Taylor and some other sloughs along with Lil Mandy. And early spraying for West Nile.

-- This has been a GREAT year for the Phesant Hatch with the bugs and thankfully no late spring Hail !

Long live the Pheasants,Fish Fry and Baitfish !!

Last years Shad population alone was so freaking dismal -- I am looking foreward to a a good population again. -- And even a Better Population for next year if we get the same weather patern for next year ..... And Stockton does not kill them again with their storm sewers.

yeha! - finally!

they are just starting.................. you aint seen nothing yet :D

i learned the hard way while fishing with Gene in a Bassmasters event many years ago, spending the day pounding the tulles and needing a head net in Franks. they were so thick you couldnt see the deck of the boat. 10,000 were on me alone and you couldnt breathe in without eating a few hundred. i was begging Gene to make a run just to try and get them off me

i went with Gene to the shop right after that day and he gave me a head net from the store. Havent needed to use the headnet for quite a few years now, but it NEVER leaves my boat.

Get yourself one and enjoy the fishing.
Hopefully with their return, so too will the great fishing return!

It ain't just Franks!

Used ta be this would occur big time in March & April. It's no where near as bad as guys think! When you start to see the black clouds hovering over the tops of the trees all around Franks, Big Break & Mildred, then you'll REALLY understand what "BAD" is! And you DO NOT want to be the tallest guy in yer boat! Guys now know why I always sit down on my seat up front when they show up. HAR!

I am with Dan, the gnats are a sign of normalcy around these parts! Seeing them out there gives ya a lot more ta talk about when the bite gits tough! HAR! HAR! HAR!
