Miller Punching Weights

I purchased a few of the Miller Punching Weights and haven't had a chance to use them yet (boat is in the shop). I have been using Tru-Tungsten bullet weigts. I believe that these weights might be better because of shape and the exit point interfaces with the hook on the side of the weight. It seems a better hook set can be achieved? What do you think?
Whats your most productive way to fish with them? Lures, Punchin Skirt, slack in the line between weight and lure, Bobber stop adjustment. I have viewed the True Bass video of Chris Raza utilizing the weights on the Delta. But I would like more feedback than just one guys opinion. There are a lot of clever guys on this site and most Bass Anglers are tinkers (always messing with something)

, Soooo let us hear it. Thank you for a response.

I'm still working on it too. Recently, last week... there is a post on this with some great pics.
So far using double bobber stoppers , using a paycheck baits or similar hook, and using that modified snell knot seem the most important parts..the last post also advocated parasite clips..I bought them but have not tried yet. Maybe today.I also use berserkbaits brawlers as my creature bait.

That plumb bob is priceless. It's almost identical

I haven't seen one of those in a while. I use to use them to level an aircraft when we would jack it off the ground for a landing gear swing or other maintenance. COOOOL But thats no help!

I used the 1.50 weight in the delta recently and found that to be too large of a bait to work it into the Lilly and hyicen leafs, i think the 1.00 oz would serve better and will switch over to em, my self. seems to be more manageable !!

Thanks flipit.
I did see that link a while back when it was first posted. And recalled the weights. I had a senior moment and forgot about that post.

Danny Miller wrote:This might help you with a better % of hookups. Early last year I was flipping a long bank on the Ca. Delta. I noticed a heavy set fisherman make a turn at the far end of the same bank. It was Mr. Thomas. We spoke about each others health and shared techs. He was really interested in my method and weight. He said I needed to change that hook. My response was what do you recommend? He said you need the BMF and had his partner get me one. I immediately changed the 7/0 owner to the hook that he recommended and continued to fish. My hookup ratio fell off right away. The rest of that day and the four next trips made me return to the long shank hook. There are a lot of guys that use the hook Mr. Thomas recommended with tremendous success and his knowledge far surpasses mine in bass fishing but there is something that makes a long shank hook have a better % of hookup ratio. Maybe my weight works to well and gets to far back up in the top of the mat for a straight shank hook to be used. I can only say my findings meant use a long shank hook. Hope this helps, and thanks for the great questions, Danny
Danny, so you are saying the 7/0 owner that you include with the weight is your favorite hook when using your weight ?

I Like that plumb bob idea with my drop shot rig. I'm thinking it will get me thru the mats for I can "punch shot" Thanks for the idea!
