Looking for a place to stay at mead..
What do you guys do when you stay? Camp, Hotel, rent a trailer?
I have a toyhauler and am thinking about towing that up aswell as the boat. Can someone recommend me a good place with full hookups? I want to be as near to calville as I can.
When you guys stay at the hotels which do you preffer?
Any info/insite is greatly appreciated...
Garrett

The only time I've been there I stayed at the Sunset Station. It was a pretty nice place with lots of boat parking and power to charge your batteries. The rates were decent too because we got a discount through the event we were in. The only downside was that we were about 30 minutes from Callville.

Call Calville Bay. They have a few full hook-ups in their trailer park. Also Temple Bar has the same accommodations (I believe). There is also a campground (full hook-ups) nearby the Las Vegas Bay Marina

Thanks Andrew, have you ever stayed in any of the campgrounds? I'm gonna be up there for about 2 weeks and would like to stay somewhere nice.
Thanks G

No I have not stayed at any. They are dated though. The campground near Hemmingway is pretty nice with trees and all. A friend stayed there for a month or so awhile back and I thought it was pretty nice.

I like Sams Town cause of their security and the fact that I can see my boat from my room at night. I don't see a lot of "rif-raf" like I did at Boulder Station. I do see a lot of boats parked at Sienna Suites when I drive by also. I think they were the host of the US Open for several years. Maybe someone here knows more about them.

I always stay at the Fiesta Henderson they have places to charge and have bicycle patrol in the parking lot 24/7. Stayed there the week of ICAST for 4 days buy one day get one free. Bought 2 and 2 days were free. I think it's the closest hotel to Lake Mead.

I used the "On Line" specials rate with AAA also I believe to get what I got. Don't know how to get the 2 and 2 deal. The longer the time you book before you arrive the more off you get, 60 days plus out and it's like 20 a night Sunday thru Thursday night.

Went through Orbitz fiesta henderson then click on view all available promotions good until 9/2/10. You can go through fiestahendersonlasvegas.com under hotel packages but it will only let you do it for 1 for 1, you might be able call them and do more than one day at a time.

The Casinos will have ARMED patrols. especially the ones with RV camps.
Sams town is as close as fiesta and I think a little nicer. Plus there is the daily 23$ limit to No limit 10 oclock poker tournament.

I would stay up by Nellis AFB. I would take your hauler and stay at the hitching post!
http://www.hprvp.com/index.php
They have a gate to keep the unwanted eyes out and if i remember right they are cheap.
Plus it is like a 20 min ride to Callville.
If you don't like that place I would see look up around Nellis AFB. I think it is closer to Callville than anywhere else....unless you stay up at the railroad pass casino...never been there though.

I dont know about Nellis unless you are USAF or Dod. heck I breathe a sign of relief when I get through the gate.
The nellis area is a #$@#$ hole. As with all USAF bases they are built in ghettos.

Area around Nellis is not bad because there is a lot of cops. I have stayed out there many times with no problems.
Plus the HP is a gated secured park...very nice.

There is no place closer than Fiesta(except)...and if you are certain of dates scroll down for the 'online special' when you get to price. Once you book the online special there is no cancellation.
Exception is if you launch out of the hemenway area where LV Marina and Las vegas Wash Marina were moved....you can stay at Hacienda...about 4 minutes from launch ramp. But your store availability and gas is far more limited unless you want to drive 10 min into Boulder City each trip and then again launching @ Hemenway requires you to run the entire lower basin water (which if any chop is always the worse.
Launching out of Callville allows for any easy run through the narrows or you can fish the lower basin. The new Launch Ramp (old one is TOTALLY closed)... is nice w/ parking in a paved lot nearby---you don't even have to trudge up the hill.
By the way-- for any one who hasn't been Echo Bay is using an awful ramp on a dirt road (original ramp is Totally closed , too.)

I didn't find the Ramp itself that bad, a little busy, but, the Dirt Road down to it was horrible. If you didn't catch the shuttle guy, it was a long and hot walk. It's sure a Real Good Road between Echo and Calville now. "Smooooth" but between Echo and Overton, different story, I'm pretty sure there are people that started their career and will probably Retire on that Stretch of Road. But, back to the Main Post on this thread, there is also a suitable campground at Echo with all the hook-ups.

I have been watching this thread and trying to avoid adding my 2 cents but had to give my opinion. (Disclaimer: I have lived in Vegas all my life) The area around Sam's Town and Boulder Station is far from a "safe" area, and one of the more likely areas in town to experience a break in. As you go North from there on Nellis towards the base it will only get worse. The area around Sunset Station is more shopping, restaurants, etc and is the least likely of the 4 Hotels most commonly talked about above to have an issue. This is also the biggest money maker of the 4 and has the most active security staff, etc running around. Fiesta's area isn't too bad, and the rates are low with quick access to the lake. Lake Mead Rd from Fiesta to the lake is under a lot of construction at the moment so give yourself a little time to get from 95 out to the lake. If you are just heading out to the lake for a weekend or something, do yourself a favor and stay in Boulder City. Plenty of small hotels that cater to boaters, minutes from the lake and an extremely low crime rate.

I live here too. Sams town is safe because of the armed guards that have a lot of well paying RV owners. Getting the gravy for BC is cool but dont say ST sucks when thats not true.
Yeah plenty of meth dealers but its not like you will get killed in your car like and Airman did going to work at Nellis.
The only thing cool about fiesta is that its close to pro tackle. Sunset is ok but i think he wants to see Vegas too. I would go with ST.

Sunset Station - 88 crimes
Fiesta - 39 crimes

OMFG Chris youa re kidding me. Want to explain your stats? The ONLY thing in the Fiesta area IS FIESTA!!!
The area around Sams town is a residential area with a few meth houses if you know the cops in the area. The castle on trop and boulder is a meth house. That is where a TON of your crime comes from.
Again Boulder AND ST are in residential areas. So you are twisting the numbers as if there are 600+ crimes on the premises.

Tim i didnt think he would take offense.

It was joking about the gravy. I thought garret was looking to visit the city and hit Mead for misery, I mean fun fishing.
I used to live in the area so I know a good deal about the crime there. Only place I havent spent a good deal of time is the SW.
BC is nicer than Vegas IMHO. But unless you like traffic for the rest of the place you wont like it.

I didnt take offense to anything, I just didn't like you stating that I said Sam's Town sucked, when I didn't. I only stated that it was not as safe of an area as most people made it seem. I know I am not the only one that wants to keep my boat far away from residential areas. I would personally stay at Fiesta with all things considered (i.e. access to the lake and super cheap).

i really HATE the buffet at sams town, that really does suck. The campgrounds at sams town are decent, thats about it....that side of town sucks....go to boulder city or henderson...if you stay at the fiesta the food is great, and plenty of restauraunts on boulder highway that are close. Landerman, you will never win against Jon....jon, you need to settle down, and stop getting your panties in a bunch all the time,

and i thought you were going back to louisianna?

Not that this is revelant to what the guy was asking about in the first place, but, It don't matter where you stay. All those places are descent. Real people that aint crack whore heads reside in those areas. Is the potential for theft in those areas, yes. I live in BC and we have crack asses here too. Some schmuck(s) broke into my wifes truck one night as well as our neighbors. I have friends that stay here during tournaments and I tell them to "lock em up". John Galbraith of BassTackleMaster.com had his fine SS ripped off out of a "secured, patroled and security camera ridden" parking garage on the strip. So it don't matter where you stay in regard to theft. So quit your whining you two and go fishing or something or bag on me. I can take it.......
