Bike seat stuck

A friend borrowed my boat and put the seat, that is usually in the front, in the back where I have never put it and now it is stuck like a mofo and my boat cover is not fitting rite. How to I get this out. It is a Champion I know they are notorious for this. If anyone can kick down some info or a certain thread with this topic I would really appreciate it.

I thought that icing down the seat post would help it contract, but it didn't. My brute strength didn't work either

I don't know about your particular boat, but when mine gets stuck I can get 'em out using a pipe wrench.
Wrap some tape around the pole for traction, then use a rag to protect the pole when you apply the pipe wrench.

I had to use a 18" Pipe wrench to get mine undone. Twist and pull.

I've used the "pipe wrench" method. wrapped it with electric tape and a towel and heard the sickening cruch sound as the teeth chewed through the towel and damaged the anodize finish...... guess I got impatient. ....but after you do get it off take some sandpaper and sand the plastic sleeve thats inside just enough to get the pole to go in so it doesnt bind in the fututre.

come on dood.. Man up and eat some Wheaties.

Oh and welcome to the Champion Boat pedestal seat post nightmare. Take a dremel tool and sand the MOFO out of the inside diameter and pray its enough. Also, sand the last 3 in. of the seat post as well.

Tape pole good and tape a rag on there. Put a pipe wrench on the tube. Put a floor jack under the pipe wrech handle. Push in button and jack er out.

Just figured out this way last week.

Give it the stink eye until it runs away.

Before you try twisting the pole and galling the metals together, try Break-Free CLP lubricant. Several drops around the post and bushing, let it sit over night and then work the pole out by twisting back and forth.

Throw a pail of cold water on it. It worked on my dog.

I clicked on this thread knowing it had to be a Champion. My former 191 had a pedestal stuck in the back. I tried the pipe wrench with tape and cloth and I still scratched the pedestal. If you use lube, don't get it on your carpet because it may hurt the adhesive. I ended up having to drill out the pedestal. I must have sanded 1/8 of an inch out of the diameter of the hole before the new pedestal fit correctly.

Glad to know it's just not my Champ that has this problem. Bought the boat a year ago with all types of scratches on the base of the pole on the back seat.

Now I know why..........

After you lube the outside, go inside the live well and tap the mounting cylinder with a hammer a few times. Keep doing this until it is loose. Worked for me, hope this helps. It still will take some muscle to pull it out.

Had same problem with my champ. After I got mine out, I sort of sand around it and apply a coating of powder graphite around it and had no more proablem after that.

Two bottle jacks on a piece of 3/4" plywood with a u-shaped cut so it slides below the seat. Cut two 2x4 pieces to fit tight under the fat part of the seat bracket near the post and jack it up a little on each side. It will come right out. Some guys try it under the seat bracket but not right against the post and it will break the bracket.

That chit is finally unstuck...

after trying mutiple ways, which didn't work in my situation, of the course of a few days... I tried a different way with a strap wrench which didn't work well then a chain wrench with a piece of dense foam wrapped around the area where the chain was gonna be. We got it to move and turn in one direction while one person lifted at the same time. It slowly came out while turning and lifting simultaneously. Minimal scratches to the seat pole. So if this happens to you try getting the thing turning and lift someone lift at the same time. It was a biach but dam it worked :)
