A couple of weeks ago I couldn't find any water temps above 47 or 48. Now I read reports and talk to guy's who swear that the water temp in the Delte rose up into then mid 50's. My question is have any of you guy's noticed the same thing? If yes then what's the reason why?

52 to 52.7 last Friday.

Water is a mix of stained to gin clear depending on where you are at.... And only 30 yards away from either bank side.

Grass is dying nicely off the rocks now -- and the deeper ledges off the rocks to the grass beds are holding some quality fish in the throff (spelling check?) area. - And some monsters are up close to the surface in the tulies if you don't scare them away with your presentation.

Great report Delta Dan. The best baits are a Senko and rip baits, working them slow

Ok so the stained water retains heat a little better but what is actually causing the water temp to go from upper 40's to low 50's? Is it the night time low's aren't getting that low or what? Any theories at all????

Stained water has little to do with it. -- Just the area's that you can find it.

There has been some rain water runoff - along with warmer nights with some mild days of pure sunlight.

This December should of been like a normal November to myself. Need a REALLY good storm to muddy up the water really good IMO right now.

This year could be the making of a stong La Nina ~ But atleast there is some snowpack up in the Sierra's already.

Gona be interesting to see how this winter all pans out/develops by the 3ard week after the 1st of the New Year.

The Cold snap freeze that hit us a couple of weeks ago, did not last as long as we would typically see in early December. Just prior to that, our temps here were hovering in the low 60s. Then the mercury fell out, yet it did not stratisfy the river system from top to bottom. The Cold front, only chilled the upper 3-7 feet. We still had early season flow coming down out of the mountains as well, so the cold snap only touched the upper layer. Then we got popped with a week of very warm weather for this time of year, which has brought the temps back up to where they are now. Our temps on a day to day basis, especially at night, have not been low enough in the 40s or below for any considerable length of time, to bring the entire river and it's layers back to below the level where it is now.
