Before you buy a cullem-rite you might want to take a look at the new Papala Touch screen. It is quite impressive and only $59.00! Yea my first thought was right $59.00?

Nice scale! The Rapala Touch Screen weighting scale seems to be pretty affordable and has everthing covered, if your fishing Oroville. BUT; what would you do if your fishing the Delta or Clear Lake and had weights over the 15 pound stored weight capacity of this scale? Weght fish a scond time and write the totals down. At least the Cul-m-rite stores up to 25 pounds. Even though I own a Cul-m-rite, I find it more convenient for me to use a balance beam and floats.

How many 15 lb fish do you expect to cull??

I think he was saying the scale wont keep a total weight over 15lbs. We had 19+ yesterday and it was ok. I looked at Rapalas site and I read it as the tourny scale will weigh a single fish up to 15lbs not the running total. The picture of the scale on their site shows a total over 30. One thing we didn't like was numbered floats so we painted colors next to each box on the scale so we could use colored floats, much easier to see. Other than that it was fast and easy to use

I have 3 broken cul-m-rite's that need repaired. Gave up on them. Just get a good balance beam and balance away. Very easy and much faste than using a scale in my opinion once you get used to it.

Plus it doesn't matter how much weight you have until you get the weight from the weighmaster. The balance beam is the best measure for culling. You just need your biggest 5 and take um to the scales.
BTW, I have a broken culmrite on my shelf too. I sent it back and the battery didn't last 6 months, expensive to replace too.

Like i said I have a Cul-m-Rite, I've never used this Rapala scale. I was under the impresstion when it was rated for 15 pounds. That was total weight that it would quantify (total stored weight). Thank you, I stand corrected; I knew you guys wouldn't let me down. However I still like my own system. The price is right for such a culling system.

Consider the black bag em system hung from a balance beam. Clip a marker on your two smallest fish and your good to go. The fish relax in the black bags and cannot flop around as well as not making holes in them, use the (small bags). Once you have caught your limit (wood time!) put the 3 biggest fish on one side of your livewell and the two cull fish on the other. If you are at shasta catching rats it helps to have 5 colored clips and a board and grease pencil.
if you are going through 2-3 limits of fish in a day it can be tough to keep figuring out your two cull fish so use a scale, weigh and record the fish with the colored markers and once you catch your 6th fish just use the scale read the weight of the 6th fish and adjust the weight measurements on the dry erase board and colored markers (clips).
When you are doing a non shared weight tournament and only have one side of the livewell this option works well also. I have never been smart enough to use a cul-m-rite and have seen nightmares when they malfunction or have operator error problems etc. I think the new rapala scale might be the ticket as well and the price seems pretty good! As far as cumulative weight goes just add the numbers on your grease board and you should have a good idea of your biggest 5 weight.

NOT TRUE ...
check out this review and it will show you that it can keep a total weight of higher than 15#'s ... the 15# limit is for ONE fish.

Maybe im missing something on the bottom right corner
for total weight in the picture it says 32.58 for 8 fish weighed..we have a family friend who dep't with the cul m rite issues, he pulled the cover off and put a new 9volt battery in himself. IT IS covered in a gel type stuff.

I've replace the 9v battery in my cull em rite several times. Works fine and very easy to do

If you have one of the older cul-m-rite scales you can replace the battery yourself very easily. If it is a newer model, the battery is packed in gel ( I think to try and prevent corrosion ) and stufffed behind parts that have to do with the scales operation so you need to send it back to them to get it replaced. I have not taken one of the newer ones apart myself but I have talked to a couple guys that have tried to replace the battery themselves and from what I could gather the inside of those scales is not something to mess with.

I would suggest looking into the ardent culling balls and just a cheaper rapala or berkley scale. the only thing that matters is keeping your best 5 then get your total from the weighmaster.

another dead culem rite. +6 . I tried to explain,to the customer service man, it had been just over a year since i had it "tuned".$50. It wasn''t working(4 times used). He says,"it has been over a year"$50. I'll try the service myself method. then the dumpster if it still needs tuning.
