This is what Klinger was running. Brace yourself, they aren't cheap and I have been searching for a used one for a year now and they are nearly impossible to find. A new runs $16,000. I have found some used ones in the 10-12,000 rang but they were all on the East Coast.

Another option, which is what I am pursuing, is to find an old bass tracker and put a pump on it. A pump costs between $1,200 and $2,000. The only thing is that you need to find a 17 or 18 foot tracker with at least a 60 or 90 Merc on the back. For about $6000 a person could have a jet boat.
I am hoping to find a Bass Tracker for about $2000 and have a $4000-5,000 project boat. Hasn't happened yet. I keep my eyes open to ebay.

The reason you do not see any PT185-jet Trackers in Calif. is they do not meet the EPA standards for our state. Tim Klinger got his at BASS PRO SHOPS in Nevada. No EPA in Nevada. That all changes for the 2006 model year when EPA issues go into effect nationwide. Remember, with a jet you want the most HP you can get as you will lose 1/3 at the pump. They are still pretty slow. If you can find any non-current 185's left it will save you big $. Rick G.

A jet boat will be off limits to you at the National bass fish off. Because you spanked us last year you have to run a 28 foot Bayliner this year. This way you wont make it to your spots in the river. Either that or you have to fish from shore....you choose!!
