TIPS NEEDED FOR OROVILLE LAKE

Hello everyone. Well me my son and wife had a blast 2 weeks ago at Collins lake catching about 30 or more Bluegill. My son is only 2 and it was his first time actually catching a fish. I would hook them and let him reel them in. It was more fun then myself catching a 10lb bucket mouth.

So we are headed to Oroville this Sunday for the first time. We drove up last week to get a look at the lake but have never fished it. We will be on a boat so any tips on catching a few Bass would be great. It will be me and my Wife and a friend and his lady, so we would like to catch Quanity over Quality this time. Any advise on baits, places to fish or techniques would be great

Peace
Rob

If you use live bait I'd suggest minnows at first light, crawdads later on and margaritas by noon.
Plastics: light colored worms, grubs, and oxblood robo worms have been doing good for me. First light: bussbaits also are very good.
E-mail me and I'll give you a couple of areas for quantity of fish.

Hi! I just recently posted a report for Oroville that may be of some help to you. This hot weather has sent the fish deep. Your best fishing will be from 5:30 am to 11 am. Fish in any shadows you can find and fish next to deep water. If you go up the middle fork past the first big right turn, the right hand bank has lots of overhanding trees that will provide shadows all morning. Fish points and cuts in the walls. Use morning dawn or green craw 4 inch worms and you WILL catch fish! Good luck,

Lunker Larry

Thanks Larry. From the sounds of things it looks like we will have a hard time finding anything in the afternoon. I guess it will have to be a Live Bait day

I just got in from the middle fork, on the water by 5, off the water by ten.
The only real successful areas I found were the rock wall areas close to the falls. I did get three just over the slot and lost a hog in the rocks. On the drive home he just got bigger and bigger now I guess him just over 10 lbs , naaa make it 12.
I'm sticking with north fork Friday.
