I can remember years back when Pat Dilling started pushing them out here I felt at that time yea"what ever just another CRO,Cameron,etc... " Not downing these rods I love the CRO and you got what you paid for........BUT!!!

These guys come out swinging but they dont have the $$$$$$ to back there product up so needless to say I was stuck with rods that are no longer made and as for warranty forget it!!

I moved to the revolver series the ones made by Rich F. and again the rod builder sold out and the quality well there is a reason everyone wants the foam grip ones.

So I set my sights on G-Loomis and the only thing I can say about Loomis is they are great rods but for the average guy(I am married with 2 kids) to go drop 400-500 on a GLX rod is just about unheard of so I stuck with the GL3 and IMX series and even then I thought the prices were alot inflated for the quality. They are good rods but not worthy of the price.

Then one day I am in Daves Bass Shack I picked up a Kistler Helium and it was love at first feel LOL I compared it with a loomis GLX and was just amazed at how light the rod was (to me lighter then GLX) and the Price was Right ON!

I sold all my Loomis rods and replaced them with Kistlers (putting cash back in my pocket) and have used Kistlers for 2 years now(no problems) and everything about them are first class. I am not sponsored by them(I wish!!! Hey Trey Mental Note LOL) nor do I know Trey that well but I do know for a little over 200.00 you can have a rod that is in my opinion better then G-Loomis GLX !

As for customer service well I could not tell ya have not had any problems with my Kistlers but I did call Trey one day and wanted to buy a decal for my boat not only did he not charge me but he sent me a hat for free !!!! I think Kistler is here to stay.


Its guys like you and I that keep these companies growing not the big name Pros, they get there stuff for free or at a big discount
and I feel Trey gives more for your dollar.

Proving once again Trey knows how to copy some of the best Custom builders in the industry. My guess is that next year he will also have some BS buzzwords to go along with his revolutionary new split reel seat. And the following year he will add a spiral guide system like none other to date. His rods are looking more like a Revolver Rod all the time. Or is that a Revolution Rod like my builder builds for me.

None the less Trey does put out a nice stick.

Coool! That's a nice looking rod...the handle design looks similar to the last flippin' stick I built...can't wait to check it out.

The LTA series of rods also forced me to sell off my IMX and GLX Loomis rods. I now have 10 LTA's and my favorite one by far is the 8' LTA flip stick.

You can't go wrong with the Helium series of rods for the money. Check them out if you're in the market for a new rod.

Rich didn't sell out. If I remember the story correctly (it's been a while since he told it to me) CE started using junk components and Rich didn't want to be involved with less than the highest quality products. If you want a revolver just check his website www.revolverrod.com He still builds high quality customs at prices way lower than off the shelf loomis stuff.

Everything is a copy of something, sometimes they improve on the original. Sometimes the "original" is a stale product from what may be a stale manufacturer who's driven simply by profit and no desire to improve on quality or design. Competition breeds innovation, if we didn't have it we would all be driving cars like the "Flinstones"
had.
I personally think Kistler makes a great product for the money, it's not the only manufacturer I will buy from, but they have my attention.
By the way if any of you are fishing in the kellog creek area of disco bay and reel in a Kistler rod with a curado attached to it please let me know, I only got two casts from it before it flew out my hand.
Afterall, maybe they do need to improve the grip to stick in my hand a little better**LOL**

Ouch Dan! There are some pictures floating around of a Helium stick with a Daiwa TD-Z reel attached actually floating on top of the water. Guess you have proof right there it doesn't work with the heavier Curado

I enjoy using rods from many different manufacturers including Kistler, Loomis, St. Croix, Megabass and even custom sticks to name a few. I appreciate the efforts of companies like Kistler who continually strive to improve their product. The Kistler Helium He76HC is among my favorite sticks and I like the fact you can call them up and have a custom tweak made to the rod to better suit your style of fishing.

We should have an article up in a few hours showing the new rods from Kistler as well as from other manufacturers direct from ICAST. Reel coverage was posted early this morning including the new Curado's from Shimano.
