This is my first rainy season that I'll be fishing on a regular basis. What are you guys using for foot wear? Im a motorcyclist and have rain boots for that but they're way too stiff to kneel down in. So what's out on the market for us to keep our feet warm and dry?

I wear a pair of RedHead bone-dry non-insulated water proof hunting boots that covers up to about 6" above my ankle. For the shoes to be really effective though, I also wear a pair of waterproof bib with the bottom cuff over the shoe.

I've fished many years in the rain, both in boats and kayaks. The bibs are more effective as far as covering your a$$ (literally) as opposed to the regular non-bib style water proof pants because the latter tend to slip down as you move around, exposing your buttocks to the elements, allowing water to leak in there. Many will tell you it is not a very enjoyable experience.

If your will be regularly fishing in the rain, I'd suggest you get the best rain/cold gear your budget allows.

James

When it's really cold or in the rain, I use my Sorells. They keep me feet warm and dry.

These work with ANY shoe - even sandals! Wear them with thick socks and and a cheap pair of sneakers, great for California winter fishing.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've been looking into the sealskinz socks and will definitely pick up a pair. I'm still looking into some decent footwear. Something that will give good grip on slippery surfaces and has good flexibility while I'm kneeling over to lip fish. Thanks again guys.

I have done a lot of research on the best shoes to fish in the rain and here is what I finally decided were the best...and they cost....but they are very light...fishing in normal rain boots will kill your back. I finally broke down and baught a pair. Ecco Track 5 Plain Toe High $200

PHD wool socks from Smart Wool...paired with calf-high SealSkinz. Your feet and lower legs will stay warm and dry regardless of what shoes or boots you wear with them.

The Seal Skin socks work well, they keep your feet dry but also smaller than big boots.

(When used with your regular fishing shoes, sport tennies, whatever.)

That means, you are going to move around more safely and quietly in the boat.

Also your "feel" for the troller motor and operation will be much the same.

+1 Seal Skinz I have been using them for a good 10 years and haven't had wet feet since. You can wear them with boots, tennis shoes, crocs, etc. I am a very firm believer in high quality rain gear and I wouldn't consider my gear complete without a pair of Seal Skinz.

Seal skinz can make your feet sweat so....... I have fished in them with sandals and my feet started to get cold and "felt" wet then I tested them and they came up pretty dry except for a lil leak in the top seam after 3 days in a water bucket. Those were some of the first models I believe. New Balance makes a waterproof shoe now, I bought some but have not tried em yet in the rain. Cabelas sells em

I've had excellent service from my Neos overshoes. They easily slip on over any other shoes or boots, are totally waterproof, very flexible, have excellent traction, and are lightweight and easy to pack/store. I've never had a problem with sweating in them. Several styles available in different heights, insulated and not, and with and without stabilicers. I got mine (uninsulated) from Campmor but there are numerous sources found by Googling "Neos overshoes."

Been using a gortex 100% waterproof Merrell shoe/hiking boot for the last 3 years and they are great rain shoes. Super comfortable, great traction and feel just like any other sport shoe when wearing them on the water all day long.
