It's always fun to stumble onto a stash of "new" old stock!

I was just happy, they were right here in Rio Vista at Freeport Bait.

I snagged a few, and left some as my Timber Tiger supply is still mighty.



(I am a peg checker, always checking the back of the pegs. Same for Storm lures, although it looks like Rapala who bought Storm decided to come back out with the old mold versions. They advertise Storm that way now. Sucks to spend a bunch of money on new molds, and kill the action of the lure.)

Yep, when Rapala first bought out Storm, I went on a mission to buy up new old stock Chug Bugs in my favorite colors. Same with the thin-billed Speed Traps...

No kidding, I did the same. I still have a good supply of Chug Bugs.

One of my Bugs became a tail sinker. It was my favorite one, suspected water but that not the case.

There was a minor design flaw that allowed the bb shot to enter the ballast weight chamber at the rear of the lure. Just enough weight to induce tail sinking. And then I could shake the BB back to the middle, and get it working right again. Got a real nice letter back from Storm, a bunch of product samples and they were surprised because nobody had reported this discovery yet. I just had a ton of hours on that "favorite" Chug Bug. Still have it, returned as a momento and retired from active fishing duty.
