I have 2 rods that are missing inserts in the guides 1 Dobyns and 1 St Croix. They are anoying me and I want to get them fixd but not sure where to go. Just about anywhere in Nor Cal will be fine for me. Also any idea what this would normaly cost?

I did a serch and all I found were threads that were several years old so I thought I would pose the question and hopefully get some more current info.

Thanks

both those manufactures have excellent warranties. why not send them back to the maker?

I looked in to that but $40 & $60 seems steep to me to get a guide replaced when there is nothing else wrong with the rods. I feel like I should be able to get them fixed faster & cheaper elsewhere.

If location is not a problem, take them to Coyote Bait and Tackle, they have a man from Los Banos (I believe) that picks them up one week and returns them the next fixed as good as new..I have used their service numerous times and can't find any fault with it..About the only way it could get better would be same day or next day service, and I don't know anywhere you can get that..

Regarding the Dobyns rod... give them a call and see what they can do. I had a tip guide that had the insert crack and they sent me a new one in the mail, no charge or questions asked. Of course, being a tip it was easy for me to make the fix. If it's one of the other guides I'm sure Dobyns would send you a new one but you might want to use someone who knows what they are doing to actually install it.
