We have 2 new articles in our "If Fish Could Talk" section. It is vitally important that we all understand and support the efforts of the Golden Gate Salmon Association to offer a better alternative to managing our delta waters and protecting our salmon runs.

If the water grabbers get away with their plan to eradicate striped bass in order to protect salmon smolts...guess what, largemouth bass are likely next!

Guys, we can't sit on our hands on this issue! It's time to get involved before it's too late!

Water diversion, and agricultural pollution, are the biggest threats to salmon.
Both are caused by the same water special interests that want to kill fish to save fish.
A healthy aquatic ecosystem begins with enough clean, healthy water.
Limit water export, clean agricultural and commercial runoff, and all the fish will do just fine.

You're are stating the obvious..... and it is all well documented, however....... the water diverters don't care..... It's all about privatizing a natural trust resource (water) for resale for huge profits.... "he who has the gold, makes the rules..." Water diverters are doing any and all to "make the rules", regardless of what is sensible.

A great many people spent long hours of their personal time to develop and implement a strategy to defeat the DFG proposal today. It all started at the meeting in early November...... Kudos to those that wrote letters to the F&G commission since November and attended the meeting today.

The days of apathy are over if you enjoy fishing the delta and connected waterways.

As an aside, since Largemouth Bass weren't spelled out in the proposal, I wonder if they will be targeted next despite the latest striped proposal being defeated today. I wouldn't put it past the "Coalition for a Sustainable Delta" and Stuart Resnick.

See...if we stick together we can beat these guys!! Bravo!!

Fish and Game Commission Votes Against Pursuing Striped Bass Proposal

The California Fish and Game Commission today took final action to reject proposed changes to striped bass regulations.

In a unanimous decision, Commissioners voted not to pursue a proposal that would have changed sport fishing regulations related to anadromous striped bass, including increasing bag limits and decreasing size limits.

The proposal that was introduced by the Department of Fish and Game arose out of a settlement agreement resulting from a 2008 lawsuit. In that lawsuit, the Coalition for a Sustainable Delta, a group of San Joaquin Valley water districts, asserted that striped bass are harming native species, including endangered salmon and Delta smelt.
