We are using a small 4" swm bait, this is a fishtrap or big hammer looking bait.
It has a very long slender body with boot foot tail. You can cut the bait shorter by 1 inch, if you want to change up the profile.

I think smaller is better on Shasta and Oroville. 3" - 4" baits.
Don`t forget the smaller fat grubs, they to will work in 3", 4", 5"

Go 5" plastic, minnow type on Clearlake.

Try to match the hatch in the waters you are fishing.
Shasta = Shad
Oroville = Pond Smelt
Delta = Golden Shiners
Clearlake = Hitch or Chartreuse Shad

bigger swimbaits i've found to get the better bites. 6" hollow body baits have been the best i've used so far. The smaller baits don't seem to get the fish I'm looking for. 6" baits have been a consistent 4lb and bigger.

This type of rig/lure targets suspended bass feeding on bait fish schools; locate the bait and fish at the depth the bait is holding. No lure can catch bass if they are not where you are fishing; ....location, location, location.
You can't go wrong using shad color and size swimmers.
